Disclaimer: "Who Should Survive" was produced in 1971. The language used in this film to refer to and describe Baby Doe was acceptable 40 to 50 years ago.
We recognize that is no longer the case and that such language is now disrespectful and offensive. We urge the use of "people first" language and more respectful words to describe people with disabilities in all instances, in both spoken and written language.
This film, however, is historical, and the language and terminology used throughout the film has been left intact to retain the historical context in which it was produced.
Eunice Kennedy Shriver was the primary sponsor of the film, Who Should Survive.

Baby Doe, Bloomington, Indiana in 1982. There were other cases too
thanks for posting this. I hadn’t heard of it. sad to think it happens to many new borns and other ages for all sorts of reasons, even recently..
God will sort everyone out in the end.
This short film was made in the 1970’s.
Did you notice the men and women’s hairstyles? A gallon of hairspray on the women’s bouffant heads and those sideburns on the men.
Did you notice the nurses were wearing white, some with the caps?
If they had to make such a film in the 1970’s how long has this been going on?
Those of you in the medical field please watch this because you will just love looking at the old and very dated technology in that hospital.
