The footage appears to show the groups outside the Voodoo Room on the historic Sixth Street of Austin's entertainment district.
The altercation seems to start when one woman grabs a phone out of the hands of another and a Marine tries to intervene.
Then, a man in a white long-sleeve shirt attempts to throw a punch at a different Marine and misses, as a group of his fellow military men rush to his defense.
While some Marines try to separate the men as they curse at each other, tensions seem to escalate and an all-out brawl begins.
The civilians and Marines exchange blows and several are knocked to the ground as Austin Police and Texas Highway Patrol officers start to break up the fight.
Bystanders cheered on the Marines, who appeared to far outnumber the civilians in the quarrel.
One man is heard chanting, 'USA! USA!' as officers work to break up the fight.
At least one man is seen being detained on the video. By the end of the video mounted police arrive and sirens are heard off camera.
In July, the Austin Police and Texas Department of Public Safety resumed a partnership to increase the police presence and deter crime on the popular downtown bar street.

This is pretty much a standard thing at a USMC Birthday Ball. One Ball I was at in 1970s, one Marine swung at another, missed but hit his nine month pregnant wife who was knockout and immediately went into labor. One Marine stepped out of the fray still holding a beer, looked at me and said something to the effect of “ain’t this some wild $hit” then promptly face planted onto a concrete floor. I called a Corpsman who said, “f-him, we are delivering a baby.” This is why I love Marines. Last couple of Balls I went to catered to the officers and were boring as hell. Glad to see some Marines are keeping traditions alive😂
some celebrations of the Marine Corps B’day go into December...There’s a CPL.(Blood stripe on his trousers) among the Lance Cpls.
There was a Corporal with a 4 year service strip and a Korea Service Medal, and a Reserve Medal. He got some good licks in. Maybe prior service, in a reserve unit now.

If you kicked out marines who got into a bar fight, there would be no marine corps
that’s 6th street in Austin. several blocks of solid bars and clubs. Full of savages and the scene of many murders and shooting on an annual basis. Use to be a great place to hangout before the savages began showing up in large numbers.
Then the man in the back said everyone attack and it turned into a ball room blitz.

I found it gratifying--if too short, as the Sheriff's men soon came in and separated the Marines from their lawful prey, the hood rats. The Marines indeed kicked ass.
There's an entertaining exchange between a large hood rat who appears to land a punch on a smaller Marine and send him back a step or two. But then the Marine steps around a comrade and lands an overhand right on the rat that sends the miscreant stumbling backwards into a heap on the floor, where he is leapt upon and pinned by another Marine, who then turns him over, reluctantly, to the deputies.
