UK Telegraph: France Forged Uranium Docs to Embarass Bush and Blair and Protect Saddam

France deliberately forged the Niger-Uranium docs, in order to embarass Bush and Blair and undermine their case for war.

The UK Telegraph blares:

A row has broken out between France and Italy over whose intelligence service is to blame for the Niger uranium controversy, which led to Britain and America claiming wrongly that Saddam Hussein was trying to buy material for nuclear bombs.

...

[Italian diplomats] say that France's intelligence services used an Italian-born middle-man to circulate a mixture of genuine and bogus documents to "trap" the two leading proponents of war with Saddam into making unsupportable claims.

...

"Their aim was to make the allies look ridiculous in order to undermine their case for war."

According to an account given to The Sunday Telegraph, France was driven by "a cold desire to protect their privileged, dominant trading relationship with Saddam, which in the case of war would have been at risk".

...

"This was la grande trappola [the big trap]. The Americans were now convinced by the French that Saddam really was trying to buy uranium. They thought the French must be right, since not even a gram of uranium in Niger could be shifted without their knowledge."

And I guess it would matter if either had relied on these documents, but they didn't. This was a straw man that was going to be used to undermine real intel. Dogs.

Well, I'm not even caring at the moment about whether or not our information was good.

The main point is that our "ally" engaged in deliberate disinformation of an enemy nature in order to harm our country.

This is the country to which John Forbes Kerry wants to subcontract our foreign policy.

maybe Jean Francois sKerry had a hand in this - after all he and Berger had a nice little deal cooking with Joe...Berger was hiding the evidence, Joe was denying the connection, and Kerry was being 'advised'......

maybe that's the October surprise....Berger, yellow cake, France, Joe, sKerry, Clintoooooon.

Right.Even bogus reporting agencies have exposed snippets of what was headed for us and our allies. That is before the stonewalling and hesitancy caused by the likes of kerry and his party allowed many to be transferred while Bush,Powell had to go "by the book" pleading the case for months.

I imagine Bush is reading this (or something like this) and saying to himself...

"It'll keep for now. But come November 4, France is either going to be very relieved or very very very worried, because payback is gonna be a bitch."

And then when the focus of the public in on, there is chaff flying about. We are considered nothing more than moths to be caught up in some silly bit of a possibility. The evidence is clear and France or whoever was not the major avenue of intelligence.Things were decided for the right purpose and things will go on.Chaff will fly.

We can only dream...the blinders to the emperor's nakedness falling away so perfectly rarely occurs in this corrupt world, though.

Look at how we have put up with Canadian insults and intransigence.  Does that look like an administration prepared to punish anyone for undermining our foreign policy?
