I'm back from vacation. With a vengence, and I'm pissed off.
Some people don't know it yet, but there's a war on. Oh, not that little dust-up in Iraq. That's hardly worthy of the name. No, it's a war for the heart, soul, and future of America. It's a war being waged by the media against the War on Terror--against our survival-- and they will stop at nothing, stoop as low as needed, tell any lie, twist any truth beyond recognition. The total bullshit about the so-called war crime committed by a Marine was bad enough. This morning on a radio station, I heard the following advertisement: (quoted the best as I can recall)
(Announcer): "How desperate is the U.S. Army for soldiers? Apparently desperate enough to keep pedophiles in uniform!" (Cue outraged mother): "When I found out he had re-enlisted, I hit the roof!" (Announcer): "Tonight on Channel 11 Defenders, pedophiles in the military!"
Link/graphic to video advertising the segment is at the top of the right-most column. For those who don't know or remember, Channel 11 is owned by the Belo Broadcasting Group, and is where Dan Rather got his start in the 60's. I wrote them a rather sharp email after the joke that was Rathergate, but the final response I got might as well have been written by a machine.
This is nothing less than a continued WAR on our military by the jackasses of the media. It is a blatant attempt to smear the uniform they wear--oh they're not just murderers, war criminals, and baby-killers, now they're pedophiles too! The media will not be satisfied until they have turned Iraq into another Vietnam, a surrender and humiliation of the United States.
It has become crystal clear that the media learned NOTHING from Rathergate or their repudiation by the electorate. Instead, they have redoubled their efforts to bend the country to their will. We pride ourselves on the victory of November 2, but that does not mean we have won the war. Too many people still get their news from TV. The mainstream media is still "mainstream;" crippled but not dead. Wounded, but dangerous.
The free press, so-called "guarantor of our security" has instead, become the greatest threat to it. We can no longer sit by idly while they tear down everything America has stood for for over 200 years. It is time for some action. But what can we do, short of violence--which would generally be counterproductive anyway? I suspect it would take a Pinochet-style "dirty war" to stop them cold, and frankly that's a bit far. Murder doesn't strike me as a good idea (though the person who approved that advertisement probably shouldn't admit it to my face). On the other hand, using the tactics of the left against the left... now that has some appeal.
I've got an idea or two, which are in a very primitive form right now. This is not something I have the time, resources, or skill to actually lead. But I can certainly try to outline it, and maybe, just maybe, there's someone with more of each to take the fight back to the media. Because until we can remove the enemy's greatest weapon, we cannot win a lasting victory.
More in a few days.
Maybe they should investigat Hollywood and their willingness to continue to employee pedophiles and there willingness to promote them on the big screen.
Gee, I wish I could remember the screen names of some of the Houston area FReepers...
If I knew any of them, I'd ping them. I've not been on here that long and haven't really made any contacts. :-(
I lurked for a year before joining, and have tried very hard to remember who is who and where they're from, if I can.
I know the three or four people in pinged in #3 will know who to ping.
FR is a treasure trove of information...you'll learn more here in a year watching the back and forth discussion of ideas than you could learn in four years at an Ivy League college!

Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Texas ping list!. . .don't be shy.
No, you don't HAVE to be a Texan to get on this list!
There should be plenty of Houston area Freepers in that ping, I hope.Maybe Flyer or Gracie will ping their list as well.
Here you go girl. See if you can ping your Houston FReepers.
This one found it.
Bringing a couple of others along. They can spread it.
Well, shouldn't we see if the military actually IS re-enlisting pedophiles before we get our panties in a bunch?
Ping, but with reservations. I'd like to see some back-up on what the story actually SAYS before I start to run in circles and scream and shout.
I have heard two versions of the blurb now. One said "accused pedophiles" so we're in the "guilty in the press before innocent under the law" mode again. The other was the original from this morning, which definately indicated that the military was doing this due to a desperate shortage of people. That offends me far more than anything else; the guy(s) can be guilty as sin and I'm still going to be angry over the press using it to claim the military is desperate for soldiers.
I pulled up the film clip on their website, which turned out to be the same as I heard over the radio. Here are the exact words:
(Announcer): "Just how bad does the United States Military need soldiers? Bad enough to keep pedophiles in uniform."
(Woman's voice): "When somebody told me that he had re-enlisted, I hit the roof."
(Announcer): "A stunning discovery, tonight, on 11News at 10."
The most likely reasons for anyone to still be in uniform are:
1. The process to discharge them hasn't been completed.
2. They are only accused, not yet tried.
3. Bureaucratic foul-up.
The implication -- hell it's not an implication, they're outright SAYING that the military would deliberately choose to keep pedophiles in uniform due to shortage of soldiers, and I find that outrageous.
Remember -- Channel 11 is a "CBS" station. We already know how "accurate" their news coverage is.
Don't forget jumping up and down. :)
I watch the morning news on channel 11 sometime. They have a pretty good morning crew. Julie and Rebecca work well together.
Funny thing too. Remember when Rather tried to pass of his fakes re "W's" TANG service? It was KHOU radio that gave ol' Dan the boot. Two different worlds I guess...
FGS
This is Channel 11 in Houston, I believe. At least that link
goes to http://www.khou.com/, a Houston station, I believe.
That would be the prudent thing to do.
Well, then, I can't do it. Never must I be accused of being a prude . . . oh, wait, you said "prudent." That's okay, then.
