Bush and the NAACP

In a surprise move, Presiden Bush hosted outgoing NAACP Kweisi Mfume at the White House on Tuesday. As we all know, Billy Clinton was the first black President, but the NAACP has shown no love to W. Even after George appointed black Americans to the top position in the Dept. of Education, as well as the Secretary of State and the National Security advisor, Kweisi and his group refused to recognize them as role models for all Americans.

I often refer to the NAACP as the NAALCP or the National Association for the Advancement of Liberal Colored People. If you are black and a conservative, don't bother joining. For the last four years, W. has refused to meet with the NAACP, even in the runup to the election. Frankly, I was proud of Bush. These two individuals were on his staff not because they were minorities, but because they were the best the country has to offer. With that said, the NAACP never recognized Paige, but they did give an award to Shaq.

I am disappointed that Bush decided to talk to Mfume, especially since Mfume once described Bush's black supporters as "ventriloquists' dummies." After the meeting was over, Mfume whacked Bush with this underhanded bitch-slap about why the President had not met with the NAACP in the past four years, "He was concerned not so much about any potential humiliation of himself, but protecting the office of the presidency from any sort of humiliation that might have occurred. I think he does have some validity in the fact that protecting the presidency from public humiliation, whether it's he or someone else, as president, is important."

Humiliation? What the heck is Mfume talking about? The only people that should be humiliated are the NAACP and their policies regarding welfare, decreased individual responsibility, and refusal to say anthing good about black conservatives. As more and more minorities move towards conservatism, the importance of the NAACP will decrease, and that my friends, is a good thing.
