Eventually links to Fox News, and here's the rest of the story:

"School district officials initially were amenable to the idea, and permission forms and a letter from the show's production company were sent home to parents last week.

But some responded angrily, saying that Hilton, whose celebrity was fueled by an X-rated home video that made the rounds of the Internet, was not a fit role model for middle school students.

I fully expect her X-rated home video to be shown on the 'ABC Family' channel someday. And ABC will be shocked that anyone might object.

So the Screwel Board originally thought this was a good idea?

As a compromise, Paris will send a personal video CD to each male student as part of her commitment to education.

Why am I NOT surprised that a school board would have approved this???

It would have been hilarious, but it's pushing the edge a little. I doubt any kids would have been damaged. I wouldn't have a problem with my kid being there.

I was a student teacher at Buena High. The folks there are for the most part from farming families. Glad to hear they did not allow such nonsense.

Paris Hilton to NOT teach Junior High Boys.

In general, split infinitives do not bother me (much), but in this case the headline would make more sense as "Paris Hilton NOT to teach Junior High Boys."

Either way, the story is good news.

This is the stupidest board of education ever assembled. So who would be next to substitute, Anna Nicole???

I thought I read that of the permission slips sent home, 340 were OK with it, and 34 were against.

Hardly a torrid avalanche of backlash.

The school board probably didn't hear the part about who would be teaching. They probably didn't hear a word past "We'll pay you..."

In most places, substitute teachers require a license. A license requires a bachelor's degree.

What university granted rocket scientist Paris a degree? I don't think she has one...

Well, it's a sure-fire way to improve school attendance. Even kids with the flu and two broken legs wouldn't have missed this!
