Consumers Against Supermarket Numbering and Privacy Invasion is a group opposed to corperate and government invasion of consumer privacy. RFID chips in store loyalty cards and perhaps citizens (one day) is paramount to tyranny and should be boycotted in a free society. No NWO just right!

I know of the case in Germany where the store did not disclose the RFID chips in their cards. Do you know of any cases in the US?

Since you're new here, this a conservative NEWS forum, where we analyze news articles. We generally don't use it to pimp other websites. Do you like kitties?

Why are they afraid of RFID? The stores are just trying to track customer movements in stores to position products better. Positioning is a $3 billion biz. RFIDs have a worse range than Bluetooth. Once you exit the store you cant be tracked.

I dunno why the RFID is such a big deal, but the cards are a royal PITA. I'd just as soon the government (or for that matter my insurance company) can't track what I buy/eat for "healthiness".

I'm not sure how that would work. That's not accurate data they're collecting, not so much that it could track an individual. It would be useful in a general survey, but it's not highly granular data.
I just applied for one of those cards on Monday. I didn't give my name, address or phone number (used fake) so they can't use the application. I use it with my credit card, but so will my wife and I've already loaned it to another person in the office. Other cards I have I've loaned to other people in line. How do they know who the card belongs to?

No one forces you to use a consumer loyalty card in a grocery store. You simply use cash and go on your way.
But, for those of us who like the lower prices a loyalty card brings, we have no problem with RFID chips, or bar codes or whatever technology the grocer chooses to use.
If I CHOOSE to share personal information with the store, that is my business, and is no invasion of privacy.

Thanks for the response. If you check out the links i posted. Walmart in Texas was caught doing this, i believe without customer knowledge. CASPIAN opposes
all cards and business that collect private information
from consumers. CASPIAN also lists friendly places
such as Shoppers Food that do not use loyalty cards.
