Let's start with one simple fact. States and cities bear primary responsibility for preparing for and responding to their own problems, and Louisiana and New Orleans get a big fat "F" for their efforts. They can blame Bush all they want, but the fact remains, they blew it big-time and caused a catastrophe to which an adequate federal response was virtually impossible. It's amazing, how talking heads and Democrat politicians-and even some Louisiana Republicans-are trying to make this a federal failure. When did the federal government become society's diaper? If you don't take reasonable care of yourselves, shouldn't you expect to have terrible problems while Uncle Sam gears up to save you from yourself? How can anyone pretend to be surprised, or that the federal government is chiefly to blame?
......SNIP......
Two things are going on here. First, local bureaucrats are sweating bullets. They let down their constituents-with fatal results-and they know they're in trouble, and a bureaucrat, by definition, cares more about his job than anything. Imagine how you would feel, if you screwed up at work and caused thousands of people to die. So they're desperate to find other people to blame. Second, for a long time, Democrats have had a policy of responding to every national development by finding some way to use it to hammer Bush. And this is just another example.

And this is why even idiot Republicans like Vitter are blaming the Federal government. I was at least glad to see Hannity take him on the other night when he gave the Feds an F.
Ironically, behind the mayor and the governor, it should be these state reps who have more to answer for than the feds since this is their jurisdiction. All of them are in CYA mode.
"Governor Blanco may be the first liberal who actually has to move to France."
Target hit...Fire for Effect!
Semper Fi,
Does this CYA attempt make my butt look big?
What other Governor can you picture:
Crying on camera.
Telling people to pray the storm moves instead of telling them to GTF out.
Needing a Senator at her side to mouth her responses for her.
Telling a sitting President, in a National crisis, that they need 24 hrs to make a decision.
Telling the public that it is HER decision to make, then refusing to make a decision.
Refusing to declare a 'State of Emergency' until days after the event(has she done so yet?)
And on, and on, and on
The hurricane destroyed three, three, major cities in three states. In two of the three states, the governors ordered the National Guard in, and they and the local people went right to work cleaning up and trying to find survivors.
Only in one of the three did the local authorities seal off the area, and prevent the victims from leaving and the aid workers from going in. Only in one of the three did the local police abandon their jobs en masse even joining the looting. Only in one of the three did the people open fire on their rescuers. Nothing remotely like that happened in Mobile, or in Biloxi. Only in Louisiana.
FEMA and the Red Cross were on the ground before the storm hit, ready to go. So was the Navy. In two of three states, they were allowed to go about their work without any obstruction from the local and state authorities, and without getting shot at.
He'll probably be exiled SOME PLACE. Maybe he could get a cell next to Edwin Edwards'.
Coming soon from CNN, the "CADAVER NEWS NETWORK" Your dead family members televised live from New Orleans as CNN finds them.
It's probably too late. Why do you think Gov. Blanco stalled? Why do you think Witt of all people was out there ASAP? They've been burning, shredding, and erasing hard drives the whole time. Probably explains why Blanco is usually a no-show.
In case you haven't heard, James Witt was paid 500,000 bucks to draw up a disaster plan. He's a Clinton hack...
Why spend money on levees and such, when you can buy boats, cars, vacation homes, etc. etc.
"Democrats and local officials are so intoxicated with Bush Blame Disease that they are actually calling for post-Katrina hearings. If they get them, they'll find comparatively minor federal failings and egregious, unconscionable local failings. Ray Nagin will be burned at the stake. Governor Blanco may be the first liberal who actually has to move to France."
LOL, what a great rant.
BTTT
