Wall Street Journal Falsely Accuses House Candidate Brian Bilbray Of Being Anti-Immigrant
April 12, 2006

Posted on 04/12/2006 3:09:36 PM PDT by AJFavish

At Opinionjournal.com today, under the heading for Opinionjournal Political Diary, it refers to Brian Bilbray as follows:

"Anti-immigrant Republican is the new favorite in San Diego's special House race"

Bilbray is not anti-immigrant, he is anti-illegal immigrant. The WSJ should retract that false accusation.

Yhe MSM isn't making that distinction anymore. It doesn't fit the template. If you're against illegal immigration you're racist and an opponent of the new civil rights movement. It won't be long before opposing illegal immigration is equated with hate speech.

The "communication" sure seems to be "anti-immigrant" from many who claim (almost in a footnote) "anti-illegal immigrant".

The term "illegal" is used. What is the nature of this "illegality"? Entering the USA without government permission is currently a minor offense less serious than a parking ticket.

Legally it is not a big deal. This comment that it is "not a big deal" enrages those who WISH that it were a big deal. They over-react by supporting an HR4437 that goes from one extreme to the other of making it a serious felony. HR4437 would not only apply to "new" immigrants, it would be applied ex post facto to those who entered under a different set of rules.

Thus the "anti-illegal immigrant" movement is perceived as changing the rules of the game and applying the new rules retroactively to previous players of the game.

Analogy. Stealing second base is stealing. Stealing is wrong. But right now, if you don't get caught, it is not only allowed, it is admired and rewarded. So along comes the Commish with a new rule that "Stealing Second Base" is always wrong and the runner who does it is always out. The runner must wait for the next batter to hit him around."

The the baseball commish applies that rule retroactively to all those who previously stole second base under the old rules. Not only that, the Commish takes away the RBIs and WINS and other stats for everyone and all teams (families) who benefitted from those stolen bases. And not only that, the Commissh punishes the hotdog vendor in the stands for benefitting from the popularity of the base stealer.

Bad analogy? I don't think so. That is precisely how most of the ANTI-IMMIGRANT types are perceived. And they are perceived that way because of the way the ANTI-IMMIGRANT types comunicate and not because of the twisting by the MSM, which does exist, but is not the cause of the PR disaster that is about to occur.

Americans want PERCEIVED FAIRNESS.

IF invading our country by the millions isn't illegal

How about threatening to shut down our ports and economy would that be considered illegal?

How about these groups who supporting them:
Communist groups, marxist groups, socialist groups:

On CNN tonight a leader of the invaders said they are shutting down our ports and our economy!

The more pressure we keep on Mexico, immigration-wise, the more reformers
inside of Mexico can be emboldened and empowered to scale back monopolists'
abuses down there which keep our own country flooded with economic refugees.
Here's an interesting new thread on new legal reform progress that finally
emerged in Mexico I think as a result of immigration reform's failure:

We can make a difference for our sake, and their's as well. Isn't it the
neighborly thing to do?
