Approaching 212 Degrees Fahrenheit

May 18, 2006

A funny thing happened on my way to opening an HSA (Health Savings Account)...I was once again reminded how inferior hard-working taxpayers are to: criminals; illegal immigrants and members of Congress (am I being redundant?).

As most Americans know, you have to be a legal entity to open any variety of savings or investment accounts.  Wells Fargo Bank makes it clear that, “In order to open an account, federal law requires that we obtain your name, street address, date of birth...and taxpayer identification number, which will be used to verify your identity. We may also ask for your driver's license number or other identifying documents.”

So, when I filled-out the paperwork for the HSA account, I looked at my insurance agent and asked why do I have to supply my: driver’s license number; its date of issue and its expiration date in addition to my Social Security number and the obvious fact that I am: a third generation American; son of a decorated WW II veteran; have a past security clearance to enter the White House and pay a small fortune in taxes annually?

His response floored me...”Ever since 911, the Department of Homeland Security has been tightening up and insists that Treasury Department sanctioned institutions verify legal status.”  I had just finished an article on the US government handing out taxpayer Medicaid benefits to illegal immigrants a few weeks prior.

I was approaching the boiling point at this juncture but didn’t start to steam until I read another part of the Wells Fargo Bank literature, ““We’re proud to have been the first major financial services company in the United States to help Mexican nationals (spelled illegal immigrants)...by promoting acceptance of the Matricula card as a primary form of identification,” said Dick Kovacevich, Chairman and CEO of Wells Fargo.”

Let’s recap here:

-         I, like millions of hard-working AMERICAN taxpayers, wish to pay for my own health insurance and create an investment vehicle in the process.  By doing so, I am shouldering the first $2500 of my annual medical expenses “out-of-pocket” and helping to keep the cost of coverage lower for everybody.

-         I have a Social Security number into which I have been paying since I started working my way through school and have little hope of ever being on the receiving end of that agreement.  I also have a birth certificate, a passport, numerous properties for which I diligently pay exorbitant local taxes, a driver’s license since the age of 16, two college degrees for which I paid through the nose...but some nitwit at the Treasury wants to confirm that I am in the US legally.

-         On the flip side, the US is polluted with somewhere in excess of 12 million illegal immigrants...most of whom can be found receiving government benefits when they’re not attending cock-fights.  But, their acid-test to qualify for a banking relationship is the production of a matricula card.  Somebody give me the hemlock immediately.

The Matricula card is the Mexican version of a growing trend by foreign governments to help legitimate their nationals illegally in the United States (and this includes criminals).  The Matricula is the most prevalent of consular ID cards..ID cards issued to illegals in the US by US-based foreign consulates.

Steve McCraw, Assistant Director of The FBI Office of Intelligence, testified before the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration, Border Security, and Claims on Consular ID Cards that, “The ability of foreign nationals to use the Matricula Consular to create a well-documented, but fictitious, identity in the United States provides an opportunity for terrorists to move freely within the United States without triggering name-based watch lists that are disseminated to local police officers. It also allows them to board planes without revealing their true identity. All of these threats are in addition to the transfer of terrorist funds.”

So, let me get this straight.  With millions of bureaucrats snoozing in anticipation of their pensions, there is not a sentient person that can determine my citizen status from a Social Security number, even though this gives them access to all of my IRS filings and passport status.  One end of the dog is licking the other end which is taking a poop.

Yet, with no verification other than a consular ID card, a terrorist can stroll into Wells Fargo Bank and open an account to start transferring funds between terrorist entities.  And, Well Fargo’s Chairman and CEO is “proud” to accommodate this.  Please retire me to Bedlam.

While this nonsense continues, a “bipartisan” leadership group from the US Senate has recently announced that, “they had broken a political stalemate and would bring to the floor next week an immigration bill that could put millions of illegal immigrants on the road to eventual American citizenship.”

Among those “on the road to eventual American citizenship” are members of a leading “Immigrant’s Rights” group, “Nation of Aztlan”.  This group is so assimilated into American culture that they openly call for the destruction of Israel.  In there no-nonsense editorials, they advance such sensitively inclusive views as, “L.A. "Jewish Mafia" Terrorizes South Central Farmers' "Colectiva" and this hyperlink:

STOP
US Military Aid to
Israel

Apparently, it doesn’t matter to the Senate, Wells Fargo Bank or the members of Aztlan that in a recent FOX News/Opinion Dynamics Poll 63% of Americans think that illegal immigration is a “very serious” problem and that 67% of Americans favor “using the U.S. military to stop illegal immigrants at the borders”.

As Senator Kennedy says, “Business and labor, Democrats and Republicans, religious leaders and the American people strongly support our plan to strengthen our borders, provide a path to earned citizenship for those undocumented workers who are here and put in place a realistic guest worker program for the future”.  Which “American people” was he referring to...the membership of the ACLU or the card-carrying members of NAMBLA!  It’s funny what scotch does to perception and truth.

Immigration policy faces the pressing needs of two concerns: (1) External national security and (2) internal national security.

The external immigration component of national security is a desire to secure our borders from people and objects illegally entering the US with the specific intent of doing harm to our country and citizenry.  Let’s call them the illegal immigrant sappers.  This variety of national threat is discrete and easily understood.  These are combatant terrorists who want to physically destroy America with various weapons.

The internal illegal immigration threat to the US is less discrete and more amorphous.  It is harder to understand, accept and defend against.  It is the pollution of our society by unassimilated peoples and their less than assimilated beliefs and cultures.  This threat is far more dangerous to our way of life than 100 crashing airplanes or even a nuclear weapon.

It is the invasion of American by masses of foreign nationals who neither understand American morals and laws (nor do they wish to) which should create the greatest concern.  In the simplest of terms, these people are the seeds of anarchy...and not because they individually are genetically bad people themselves.  Their shortcomings are the fault of the US government that allows this unregulated alien flood to surge across our borders without the ability, intention or desire to assimilate them into American culture and all that it stands for.

Cruelty to animals, arranged child-bride marriages, Female genital mutilation, dangerous hygienic shortcomings, illegal appropriation of private property through squatter’s rights and vigilantly justice name just a few of the recalcitrant cultural practices of illegal immigrants.  They are practicing the culture of their origins, not the culture of the new “home”.  Left unchecked and encouraged to exponentially multiply and the result is anarchy.

Chief Justice John Marshall once commented that “Between a balanced republic and a democracy, the difference is like that between order and chaos.”  Similarly, the difference between a rational system of immigrant assimilation and the unrestricted flow of illegal immigrants into our nation is like that between an American way of life and anarchy.  The devil is in the demographics...and in the US Senate.

Why? Because Ted Kennedy opposes such accounts.

As Senator Kennedy says, “Business and labor, Democrats and Republicans, religious leaders and the American people strongly support our plan to strengthen our borders, provide a path to earned citizenship for those undocumented workers who are here and put in place a realistic guest worker program for the future”.

And apparently so does GW Bush. Kennedy and Bush what allies!

Speaking on the 1965 Immigration Act:

Senate immigration subcommittee chairman Edward Kennedy (D-MA.) reassured his colleagues and the nation with the following:

"First, our cities will not be flooded with a million immigrants annually. Under the proposed bill, the present level of immigration remains substantially the same ... Secondly, the ethnic mix of this country will not be upset ... Contrary to the charges in some quarters, [the bill] will not inundate America with immigrants from any one country or area, or the most populated and deprived nations of Africa and Asia ... In the final analysis, the ethnic pattern of immigration under the proposed measure is not expected to change as sharply as the critics seem to think."

Also Edward Kennedy (D-MA.):

"The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants. It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs."

In 1965, new Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach testified:

"This bill is not designed to increase or accelerate the numbers of newcomers permitted to come to America. Indeed, this measure provides for an increase of only a small fraction in permissible immigration."

Sen. Claiborne Pell (D-RI):

"Contrary to the opinions of some of the misinformed, this legislation does not open the floodgates." (Congressional Record, Sept. 20, 1965, p. 24480.)

Ted Kennedy was a liar then. He was a liar in 1986. He is a liar now! I wonder what GW Bush is?

This vanity (which is what I will call it, since I cannot who or what dansargis is) starts off with a gripe about savings accounts, ends up as anti illegal-immigration, with a "Stop US Military Aid to Israel" link sandwiched in between.

A coherent thought for $10 please?

The point is that a citizen has to jump through hoops to invest money while illegals get things handed to them. The link shows the flavor of an organization that is a big supporter of illegal immigration.

The thoughts are coherent...just somewhat subtle.

Growl.

After I took a break, I looked back at your posting. There was no need for me to be sarcastic or angry. I just had a tooth pulled last week, and it is making me grouchy as a bastard.

I shouldn't even look at this stuff when I am in a foul mood, no call to take it out on people here. I should know better. Accept my sincere apologies.

I hope you don't grind your teeth too much during the President's immigration speech tonight.

Your's was a serious inquiry and no offense taken. Get feeling better soon.

Well, it doesn't sound like Sargis actually supports the Anti-Semitic trash that the Aztlanians apparently (in his opinion) support. Hope that helps.
