NY Times keeping secrets from it readers

Today, a New York Times headline reads Rally Near White House Protests Violence in Mideast yet there is a lot they did not tell and show about the protests in DC and San Francisco that perhaps you ought to know.

The Times reported:

Thousands of people rallied near the White House on Saturday to protest what they described as Israeli aggression in Lebanon and the United States’ unwavering support for Israel. The diverse crowd included many Arab-Americans and Muslims, college students and families, as well as veterans of prior demonstrations against the war in Iraq.

And they provided this photo of a seemingly peaceful protest outside the White House

Yet they did not show photos of the not so peaceful looking protesters who were there, like in the photo below or the ones you will see if you click on it (language warning)

DC Middle East protest 08122006.jpg

Nor did they show you video of the DC protests like the one below

video of DC 08122006 ANSWER protest.jpg

The Times reported:

Brian Becker, national coordinator of a coalition called Act Now to Stop War and End Racism [ANSWER], a sponsor of the rally, asserted that President Bush had given Israel a green light to crush Hezbollah in Lebanon, then “sent cluster bombs to the Israeli Defense Forces to kill Lebanese children.’’

What the Times failed to remind people of is Hezbollah: murdered 241 US service members when it bombed the US Marine barracks in Beirut, in 1983; has repeatedly conducted terrorist attacks against Israel; provoked Israel's current military response by kidnapping two of its soldiers; and has, over the past month, bombarded Israel's civilian populace with more than 3,300 of the 12,000 rockets Iran has supplied it with. Nor did they tell you that ANSWER was formed immediately after 9/11 and their first major protest took place just 17 days later, on September 28, 2001, against the expected US invasion of Afghanistan. Nor did they describe how Brian Becker feels about Jews. Brian Becker and ANSWER have not, to date, condemned Palestian suicide bombers, terrorist attacks by Hamas and Hezbollah, their recent kidnappings, or shellings upon Israel's civilian populice. In fact, he justifies the kidnapping of Israeli soldiers because they have arrested thousands of the terrorists who have attacked them and demands that Israel return to its 1948 borders. CLICK ON THE IMAGE BELOW and watch him say that and far more outside the Israeli embassy, on July 6, 2006, and decide for yourself if he is against all forms of racism, including anti-Semitism:

Brian Becker 07062006 DC outside Israeli embassy.jpg

The Times also identifies a couple of other protest organizers:

Mahdi Bray, executive director of the Muslim American Society Freedom Foundation, said Mr. Bush owed Muslims an apology. “There is no Islamic fascism,’’ Mr. Bray said. “There is no doctrine of fascism in Islam.’’... Esam Omesh, president of the Muslim American Society, said, “We all stand united against the violence and the killing in the holy land.’’

The Times told you none of what Daveed Gartenstein-Ross discovered about the Muslim American Society:

MAS does not come close to being an organization likely to advance a truly moderate interpretation of Islam. In fact, an explosive investigative report published in the Chicago Tribune late last year revealed MAS to be the arm of the fundamentalist Muslim Brotherhood in the United States. The Brotherhood is a largely underground international Islamist group that, according to former Kuwaiti minister of education Ahmad Al-Rab'i, is the ideological fountainhead of al-Qaeda's terrorism. The 9/11 Commission Report concurs that the Brotherhood was an inspiration to al-Qaeda by noting Osama bin Laden's reliance on Brotherhood ideologue Sayyid Qutb, who argued that Islam and disbelief (what he called jahiliyya, a reference to the "era of ignorance" in the Arabian peninsula that preceded Muhammad's prophethood) are locked in a mortal struggle, and all must choose sides.

MAS's top leaders, such as Shaker Elsayed, admit that MAS was founded by the Muslim Brotherhood, but claim that the organization "went way beyond that point of conception." If true, perhaps the group's questionable origins would be forgiveable. However, MAS shows no signs of having moved away from the Brotherhood's ideology. In fact, the exact opposite is true. After a debate that I had with Mahdi Bray was broadcast on PAX-TV's Faith Under Fire back in May, I wrote an article for the Weekly Standard that explains what MAS -- which has a standardized reading list and curriculum that applies to all of its members -- is teaching behind closed doors.

The Chicago Tribune report Daveed Gartenstein-Ross refers to is lengthy and requires registration (free) to read it yet here are two excerpts:

Over the last 40 years, small groups of devout Muslim men have gathered in homes in U.S. cities to pray, memorize the Koran and discuss events of the day... But they also addressed their ultimate goal, one so controversial that it is a key reason they have operated in secrecy: to create Muslim states overseas and, they hope, someday in America as well... These men are part of an underground U.S. chapter of the international Muslim Brotherhood, the world's most influential Islamic fundamentalist group and an organization with a violent past in the Middle East. But fearing persecution, they rarely identify themselves as Brotherhood members and have operated largely behind the scenes, unbeknown even to many Muslims.
...
An undated internal memo instructed MAS leaders on how to deal with inquiries about the new organization. If asked, "Are you the Muslim Brothers?" leaders should respond that they are an independent group called the Muslim American Society. "It is a self-explanatory name that does not need further explanation."... And if the topic of terrorism were raised, leaders were told to say that they were against terrorism but that jihad was among a Muslim's "divine legal rights" to be used to defend himself and his people and to spread Islam.

What did the NY Times report about the protest in San Francisco? Nothing except a photo of more peaceful looking folks with a caption that reads, "Others rallied Saturday, including a San Francisco face-off over Israel." The San Francisco Gate provided a more detailed look at the protesters yet even they did not capture the true nature of many pro-Hezbollah or anti-Semetic folks like the guy below. CLICK ON HIS IMAGE (language and content warning) and you will see more like-minded folks:

The AP and Reuters chipped in their own biased reporing as you will learn if you CLICK on the photo below:

They should have this coincide with the million-man march, then maybe we can have altercations between the two, etc., the brothers will bash some muzzie heads in.

Seriously, these people should be thrown in jail for sedition.

Their leaders are the ones reading Mein Kampf and promoting Nazism. If anyone is guilty of being Nazis it is the Islamic Fascist.

Bingo. Mein Kampf is still a best-seller in the Muslim world....

Of course, these are just a bunch of loyal Americans showing their loyalty and desire for peace and freedom, right? That's what some on this forum tell us constantly. It rings less true with every protest like this one or every "All-American" Muslim caught funding terrorists....

The New York Times is a piece of trash. It is nothing better than propaganda. I sincerely hope it goes out of business, and soon.

"Seriously, these people should be thrown in jail for sedition."

They should be tried for treason and shot.

Very good article, Sergeant Tim! Thanks for putting it together.

The New York Times would never put the time and energy into researching an article like you did. They just copy and paste the BS from ANSWER, MAS, UFPJ, ISO, WWP, DNC, PLO, etc. press releases.

I hope you don't mind that I'm pinging a few folks...

Great videos and report!

That's a DC Chapter FReeper just after 5:40 into the first video. Peace protestor tries to swat at the DCC FReeper's megaphone, then another swats at his camera as the green-vested march marshals pull one of the violent peace protestors away from the FReeper.

tgsl, thanks for the ping.

There's TF of DC Chapter at about 5:40 into the first video on the report. Direct link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=16Qq-fJgZn8&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fageofhooper%2Eblogspot%2Ecom%2F2006%2F08%2Fheres%2Dvideo%2Dfrom%2Dyesterdays%2Danswer%2Ehtml

Its past time to put these people in internment camps till war on Terror is won.

Is there a way to put a permanent link up "on the board" for Muslim nazi protest marches? So we all know where and when they will be spewing their filth?

Would love to attend one, with a cute Mohammed cartoon. It would be my pleasure to then exercise my right of self defense, as I am sure they will attempt to deny my right to free speech with force.

"a few more"

I had to go take an hour and 20 minute walk to work off steam after the last batch. Maybe I better give these a pass.

… what they described as Israeli aggression in Lebanon…

… The diverse crowd…

At least the Times used the qualifier “they described”, instead of blatantly stating that Israel is the aggressor. Defending against the attack by Lebanon and Iran (under the guise of Hezbolla) is “aggression”?
As if it makes a difference to the Times – they did describe the mob as “diverse”. I guess they are correct technically – it consisted of Muslims, terrorist sympathizers, misguided kids and assorted anti-Jew and anti-American rabble. If that is a celebration of “diversity” I want no part of it.

I would love to see our “esteemed” MSM show the pictures posted on the zombietime site. Never happen.

I am glad we don’t have demonstrations here like the one in San Francisco. I’m afraid I don’t have the self control to ignore the Hezbolla and Hamas flags and supporters.

Almost 50% of muslims in America are black. There would be agreement, not confrontation if they met.

Your excellent report is another example of why it is more important to read FreeRepublic than the NYT.
