Shall We Just Wait For the Next Massacre?

Now that the Democrats have taken Congress, Rumsfeld has been fired and the Baker boys are in town, ‘cut and run’ is in the air, and the mortal danger we might have avoided is now staring us in the face....

This country, my country, the United States of America, can defeat any foe. We proved that in World War II and again during Desert Storm in 1991. In Korea and in Vietnam our military was placed under ‘politically correct’ constraints that prevented victory and got American soldiers killed; and now in Iraq the same thing seems to have been happening - from the early Fallujah battles to the withdrawal from Sadr City.

But the same general mess in the Middle East will still confront Bush's and Rumsfeld's successors.

Why ours? Why not Spain's? Argentina's? Japan's?

Could it have anything to do with...?

The whole situation dragging on endlessly makes our
military look impotent.

The militay needs to harvest the combatants, reguardless of
injuring innocents, they cannot leave them mingled in with
the civilans left to fight another day.

I don't know Russell Wilcox, and disagree with him about the draft and the all Volunteer Army, but I'd like to know just two things?

Why is he not a communist too, and how did he ever win tenure?
It's a good thing he's retired or he could have infected out entire system of higher socialistic education.

Enjoyed the article even if I didn't agree on every point.

A "civilian" who gives cover or even tacit support is a combatant in my opinion. That's the nature of guerrilla warfare.

War is tough, it's even tougher if you won't kill your enemies.

1. The main reason I think we need the draft now is I foresee the need foe millions of troops in the near future.

2. Luckily I was in the Business Dept. My experience is that Business and Engineering have realists who tend conservative, while the rest of academia is filled with people who haven't a clue, and many of them are part of the hate-America crowd.

In the face of such a dreadful likelihood, the emerging Washington consensus is an exercise in self-delusion unworthy of a 5-year-old.

This is the most accurate description of D.C.'s behavior, to date. Since the little imbeciles refuse to anything more than cower under their desks, what can we do? Even if, would it help anything? The little grub faces stole all the power from the citizens of the United States, and we are now facing the consequences of those actions...
