When we do not learn from events - when we stand pigheaded in face of reality, grasping to altruistic notions of morality, or our own self-righteous thoughts of what is best for everyone else because surely individuals are incapable of thinking for themselves or acting responsibly .... then we are part of the problem and not the solution. (sorry for the giant run-on sentence). Bottom line: if every person on that campus that was not justifiably disqualified from possesing a handgun - had a handgun with them and knew with certainty they could defend themselves and others against imminent death with the backing of the law - this tragedy would have played out very differently, if it would have even happened at all.

Does anybody else here think placing the facility into “lockdown mode” at the first sign of violence is a bad idea? My instinct would tell me to get everybody outside as quicky as possible and have them run off in divergent directions.
