The murder trial of famed record producer Phil Spector is set to open this Wednesday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom. The legendary rock and roll music producer is charged with killing actress Lana Clarkston at his Alhambra mansion February 3rd 2003.
The presiding Judge, Larry Paul Fidler, has agreed that cameras will be allowed in the courtroom and the trial will be televised. Judge Fidler said that he believed it was time to be able move on from the OJ Simpson murder trial. "We have to get by that case," he said. "There's going to come a timethat it will be commonplace to televise trials. If it had not been for Simpson, we'd be there now," Fidler concluded.
It looks like the judge will be getting more than he bargained for with media coverage. The story of how the case is ultimately decided by the jury, will get an even closer inside media look when all is said and done.
Turns out of the jurors selected to serve on the 9 man 3 woman jury, one is none other than a Senior Producer of NBC's newsmagazine Dateline.

Either the soon-to-be-star-struck Judge Fidler doesn't own a TV, or, if he does, has missed Court TV while channel surfing.
Kind of like having Tim Russerts next door neighbor on the Libby jury huh.
I see Phil Spector walking out of that trial a free man. Or at least his hair will be free.
Is that an electrified squirrel on his head or what?
NBC producer on the jury of a celeb case? Sounds like grounds for appeal before the trial has even begun.

I believe you are right. What is a surprise to me is that it took four years to bring the individual to trial. I got out my well thumbed copy of "The Kandy Kolored Tangerine Flake Streamline Baby" -1966 Simon and Schuster.
which included Tom Wolfe's story, "The First Tycoon of Teen". Spector, born 1939 is described as 23 years old.
The individual had a whole plane turned around, because he thought it would crash etc. The world revolved around him then and indeed does now.
The tragic death of an unfortunate woman, who and never mind the usual tactics of maligning her, died. A life cut too short.

Phil Spector should get the chair for what he did to the Beatles Let It Be album. But thats just my opinion.

Spector would have spent the last 18 months breakin’ rocks in the hot sun if he’d been a commoner.
