Are the Duncan Hunter FReepers losing faith? [TOWARD VICTORY]

New FR poll indicates that support for Duncan Hunter of FR is fading away.. is it true or not?

I have always said that the support of FR members is critical to a grassroots campaign... Over the past several weeks FReepers have been split on Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter.. it appears by the current poll that many of those FReepers that were leaning toward Duncan Hunter are drifting toward Fred Thompson... Is this an accurate assessment or are there still Duncan Hunter supporters on FR?

TOWARD VICTORY !!

Pass it on..

It is still TOO early in the game to give up on the BEST candidate in the race.. but time is running out.. NOW is the time to start pulling HARD for Duncan Hunter if we are going to keep him in this race....

TOWARD VICTORY

Maybe not in Texas, which has a March 4 primary. He may be out of the running by then. Oddly, millions are disenfranchised by the process that sorts the number of real candidates to no more than two by mid-February. Of course, this would not happen if the hapless American sheeple did not rush to quick judgments, or better still let three early states decided it all for them.

Why not have ALL states vote on the same day? This “Iowa and New Hampshire are entitled to vote first and determine the nominee” is complete B.S.

Maybe I don’t understand the whole “primary” process stuff too well, but it seems to be Presidential candidates visiting solely Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina for 2 months straight ever election, while ignoring people in other parts of the country, isn’t exactly good.

I’m still with him. But I’ve just been amazed to see how the MSM is selecting our candidates. It should have been Hunter that was propelled to the forefront, not Huckabee. But I guess they’ve just built him up so they can take him down against the eventual dem nominee.

I don’t get that either. The primaries should all be on the same date, as you suggest, so this pandering to a couple of states does not occur.

New FR poll indicates that support for Duncan Hunter of FR is fading away.. is it true or not?

The poll question is who did the best job of advancing his chances in the debate -- if people are answering the question honestly based solely on the debate performance, it has no real bearing on their support for "their guy".

If I said that I thought Huckabee did the best job of improving his chances based on the debate prior to this one (i.e., the "YouTube" debate) does that make me any less of a "FredHead"? No, it just means I see the reality of the short-term situation.

I’ve been saying this since the beginning of the primaries. Hunter is probably the best candidate, but he's not a showman which is part of politics whether you like it or not. I’m praying he gets on as a VP and then is ready after 8 years.

The poll doesn't ask, "Which candidate do you support?" The poll asks, "Which candidate did the most in the debate to help himself become the presidential nominee?" I realize that many people see any poll, ignore the actual question being asked, and rush to click on the button next to their favorite candidate. That behavior is unfortunate. I'd love to think that Freepers are smart enough and thoughtful enough to be able to watch a debate, read the question, and honestly say to themselves, "Okay, even though Duncan Hunter (or whomever) is my favorite candidate, I realize that he didn't do anything in today's debate to make undecided voters move to his side or make voters favoring other candidates switch." If all Americans had the intellectual capacity to look at any kind of question that way, we'd be a stronger country.

I didn't see the debate yesterday, so I'm not going to vote in this poll unless I get some other chance to watch the whole debate. For the previous debate, I voted that Fred Thompson did the most to help his campaign because I honestly believed that Fred Thompson did more good for himself than any other candidate did. Voting that he did the most good for his campaign doesn't change the fact that he's my third or fourth choice among the remaining candidates.

Maybe what you're seeing is that some Duncan Hunter supporters realize that this fight is in the latter rounds and Duncan Hunter needs to land a knockout punch. His opponents can't knock him out, but they are winning most rounds on points. Every time we go through one of these debates without him not landing a knockout punch, the chances of him becoming the nominee become smaller. I saw a video of his answers in the debate, and he was great. However, his being great doesn't mean that he landed any solid punches that would knock other candidates out and put himself at a higher position in the race. Unless the other candidates did very poorly, I doubt that Duncan Hunter really moved himself any closer to the nomination.

I can’t help but wonder why the heck Alan Keyes was allowed in the debate. According to FOX news he didn’t even meet the criteria to be invited yet there he was throwing a tantrum and distracting from legitimate candidates.

Why not have ALL states vote on the same day? This “Iowa and New Hampshire are entitled to vote first and determine the nominee” is complete B.S.

If all states voted on the same day, we could have just anointed Rudy Giuliani as the nominee months ago. Having a process where a few small states go first allows other candidates to work hard in those early states and build a campaign. They can then use the momentum that the build in the early states to win support in later states. If you want the media to pick our nominee in every election cycle as they have tried to pick Giuliani this time, then you should be supporting a single, national primary date. If you don't want the media to make the pick, then you should support having different states at different times. I think the system needs adjustments, but a single primary day would destroy our chances of nominating any conservatives.

Do you assume that a Hunter support would automatically say that Hunter won a debate, even if he didn’t?

Interesting.
