Nixon was set up for the ‘Watergate’. There’s a fascinating book about America’s greatest political conspiracy. www.Fitzgeraldbook.com. A fun read and you will ask yourself, did all this really happen?

Watergate is not what bugs me about Nixon.

EPA, OSHA, the Unified Budget, Wage and Price Controls, removal of the Gold Standard, and I have many, many more....

He was no conservative on domestic affairs, that’s for sure.

"He was no conservative on domestic affairs, that’s for sure."

And you're right. He gave the DemonRATS anything they wanted concerning domestic policy if they would leave him alone on foreign policy matters. I know, I lived through it and saw it. In summary, I feel he was good president and led the country fairly well. He was a strong anti-communist and felt communism was the greatest threat the Western World faced. He had to deal with a solid Democrat Congress which ran roughshod over him on domestic policy. He didn't have the will to stand up to them even though I felt the country would have backed him up.

You're right. Watergate was the greatest "non-event" ever promoted by the media. It was entirely a Washington Post/NY Times creation later pumped up by the leftist TV networks in cahoots with the Democrat Party to take down a President. The liberal TV networks kept on it day after day. I couldn't believe it.

Unfortunately Nixon caved into them. I don't think his enemies had the Senate votes to convict him on anything if he was impeached. Since then the leftist press and Democrats have tried to make Watergate a template for bringing down not just Republicans but particularly conservative politicians.
