Same old socialist stuff. In the forty years I’ve been watching these people, they never learn anything.

Obama, Ayers, Dohrn, Wright, Pfleger et al. want you to believe that, this time, socialism will really really REALLY work.

I know that there’s a popular argument equating Senator Obama with Communism, but I think there’s more ground to be gained by addressing his policies as they are: Keynesian Economic theory. The leap between liberal tax policy and a Stalinist five year plan is pretty extreme and it misses the point.

You’re absolutely right, but this is a distinction lost on Joe Sixpack. Anyway, the difference between Keynes and Marx has always struck me as one of degree, and strategy. The end goal is the same.

Actually, the equating of Obama with Communism lies less in the realm of economics and more in the realm of culture. Communism as an economic system has been thoroughly discredited: that's why the Left in America has been far more concerned with taking over the culture through such means as 'political correctness' and 'multiculturalism' than with traditional Marxist economics (that comes later once they get power).

My biggest fear of BHO will be an attempt to annul Amendments I and II. Although he has claimed that he doesn't support the so-called Fairness Doctrine, I doubt very much that he would veto a congressional restoration of it if it came across his desk. And his record on RKBA issues from his community organizing days and his Illinois state senate tenure is not good.

So, IMHO, it's fairly clear: Obama is looking to destroy liberty in America and replace it with an all-powerful State that controls every aspect of life and brooks no dissent.

Obama really *IS* a Stalinist.

Yes

Keynesian economics truly must have been the first recipient of the "lipstick on a pig" comment!

I really don’t want to defend Obama, but that’s beside the point; he’s not a Stalinist by any serious definition any more than my high school principal was a “Stalinist”. The undecided vote sees these arguments in the same light— a partisan taking liberties with the actual definition of an actual ideology looses a claim to discuss policy on real terms with that voter. If you were to cite Obama as having authoritarian leans as evidenced by your concerns on the 1st and 2nd amendment, that’s substantive, but to approach someone and say “Well, he’s a Communist”, the breadth of what that implies doesn’t ring true and people recognize this.
