Barack Obama will require students to partake in 50 of community service in middle and high school and 100 hours in college:

Don't think for a minute that this won't include some kind of indoctrination:

Obama will call on citizens of all ages to serve America, by developing a plan to require 50 hours of community service in middle school and high school and 100 hours of community service in college every year.

At one time in our history church groups would volunteer to assist their community.
Now, we have the Church of Obama.

Maybe this helps explain the sudden surge in firearm sales.

I was talking a friend,who is a lawyer and asked him if he could help me prepare some documents, re-custody of my daughter should I be sent away, protecting my assets.

He looked at me and indicated that I would probably never be released, so maybe it would be a good idea. LOL

They're friggin' robots. And "Change" is such a trite catch-word for a couple reasons - a) change is going to happen anyway, it always does; we're not living in Groundhog Day, and, b) change isn't necessarilly good change; it might be bad change.

Forced conscription is unconstitutional - especially for the underaged. Volunatry is fine if that's what you want to do.

This will be challenged in the courts. What are they going to do - send minors to jail for failure to participate?

Only way he can get the lazy welfare leeches to do something. Doesn’t recognize the fact that many young people are working their butts off to pay for their education and in many cases provide additional support to their families.
Charity begins at home.
He won’t get our children... he wants a revolution? He’ll get one.

When I was in high school, I was part of the Key Club - a HS/teen extension of the Kiwanis. I enjoyed it, and many of the projects we did for the local community.

I would NOT have enjoyed, however, being forced to participate in some ridiculous school (read: government) mandated service requirement. It pretty much would have destroyed the spirit and point of volunteering in the first place.

I guarantee you, if this becomes a national requirement, two things will happen.:

1) You’ll get a lot of sullen teens doing as little as possible to meet this requirement (and a sloppy job at whatever it is, to boot);

2) You will see all manner of ‘alternative’ options that qualify as service, and will bear little resemblance to the traditional definition of community volunteering (let your imagination run wild - I promise the reality will be worse.)
