Here is video of CNBC's Mark Haines on Morning Joe today, where he called liberal blogger Arianna Huffington "clueless" about her call for the government to stop protecting the equity holders in banks. Haines correctly says Huffington "doesn't know what she is talking about." It's refreshing to hear someone be so direct and honest! . . . . . . . (Watch Video)

Mark Haines thinks Rush is an anomaly. That he also thinks Arianna is one says more about him than either of them.

He's a closet, with a very thin door, liberal.

Actually, Arianna is not that off the mark. While I’ll concede that equity holder have been decimated in total, what does Mark Haines believe is going to happen when the government is now purchasing preferred stock? That’s right, the value of the stocks are going to go more up than they should be. The federal government has lost more than 75% of its equity investments via TARP.

I have watched cnbc since the late 90’s. Haines used to be much more reserved in his opinions, but has become something of a blowhard. I don’t disagree with many of the opinions he expresses (I do with some, though), but his ego has both grown and become much more evident over the last decade+.

You may be right - he may have become much more of a stuffed-shirt than an idealogue....but, like you, he rubs me the wrong way - probably it's mostly his "manner" of pontificating!!

On the otherhand, he's dead-on calling Huffington "clueless".

Personally, on CNBC, I'll vote for Erin Burnette....[/grin]
