Yes, gentle reader, I absolutely believe in the importance of religion in an individuals life. While most wars have been started using a deity as the excuse, much good has come from religion. The sciences first appeared as a way to enhance religion, architecture gave us some imposing historical icons in the form of impressive temples that survived for thousands of years and still fill us with awe. Mathematics and astronomy started out as means to understand the heavens and thereby the gods. And so on
I am a deeply religious Orthodox Jew and I appreciate the value of religion, I understand its need. I can not help wondering, however, if IslamoFascists have so little faith on their own Allah that they believe he needs their human help to realize and assert his power if he truly is the One, the Only, the Omnipotent? Is the god they purportedly believe in, so petty, so vengeful, so impotent that he is useless without them?!?

“most wars have been started using a deity as the excuse,”
Exactly, I was going to say, name the wars.
A few may have been started for theological reasons, but I don’t think the majority are. I’d use the broad reason of “economics” for the reason for most wars.
