The Real Reagan Legacy: A Reevaluation of Reagan's Economic & Defense Policies
Thoughts From A Texan ^ | March 27th, 2009 | Joseph "Tex" Dozier

“Never before in our history have Americans been called upon to face three grave threats to our very existence any one of which could destroy us. We face a disintegrating economy, a weakened defense, and an energy policy based on the sharing of scarcity.”

- Ronald Reagan Time to Recapture Our Destiny (RNC Address - July 17th, 1980)

The story goes that Governor Reagan, while strategizing with his political allies in a Beverly Hills Hotel in early 1980, found the moment opportune (as he so often did) to make a point. Leaning over to Dick Allen, his soon-to-be national security adviser, Reagan asked “Dick, would you mind sort of telling all of us what the thrust of US policy has been in the post-World War II Era”? Dick Allen, seizing upon the chance to show off his wit, replied, “Basically we did two things, governor. We harassed our friends and we cajoled our enemies…we have almost no friends left but we have lots of enemies.” Reagan, without hesitation, provided a telling comeback: “Well, Dick, I guess we’re just going to have to scare the bejeebus out of our enemies with Star Wars and we’re going to have to make our friends stinking rich with supply-side economics.”

I know it's quite long and in depth; just tried not to miss anything. Different approach to Reagan in respect of structural supply-side economics.

Actual telephoto image of Standard Missile II fired from USS Lake Erie seconds before downing a crippled satellite in February of 09--all the legacy you need to know that makes Reagan a great president! GHWB Bush wasn't fit to wear his shoes, Clinton wasn't fit to tie them, GW Bush wasn't fit to shine them; and 0bama isn't fit to scrape the soles after he walked his dog!
