Glenn Beck Debunks the FEMA Concentration Camp Conspiracy Theory - Video 4/6/09
Freedom's Lighthouse ^ | April 6, 2009 | BrianinMO

Here is video of Glenn Beck today with a segment debunking the crazy conspiracy theory that FEMA is operating "Concentration Camps" in the United States. I guess I have been living under a rock somewhere because I had never heard such a wacko idea. But it is apparently all over the internet and has made the rounds via email as well. This sounds a lot like the 9-11 Truthers who won't go away, claiming the U.S. Government was behind the 9-11 attacks. It seems there will always be people to perpetuate conspiracy theories.

Anyway, Beck talks with a reporter from Popular Mechanics who positively disproves the FEMA Conspiracy Theory. . . . . . (Watch Video)

The prision was destroyed during Katrina and FEMA is pushing the money for its rapid reconstruction.

Please stop your nonsensical posts. Beck is right, we have real fish to fry and your tinfoil mind is distracting us.

You can find the information here:

http://www.fema.gov/library/file;jsessionid=38F373934108D6932FD4EF77833F0724.Worker2Library?type=publishedFile&file=ppso_det_fac_public_notice.pdf&fileid=706c7070-1552-11de-9100-001185636a87

Here is an excerpt:

“On August 29, 2005, The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility, located at 110
Prison Road, in Braithwaite, Louisiana, in Plaquemines Parish, was severely damaged by storm
surge, rain, and high winds stemming from Hurricane Katrina. Following the disaster, the
applicant applied for and was subsequently awarded funds to pay for the demolition and
reconstruction of the detention facility. The duration of the construction period for the
replacement facility is expected to be between 48 and 60 months. In order to facilitate operation
of the Plaquemines Parish criminal justice system in the interim, and to mitigate costs associated
with housing detainees in Jefferson Parish, the applicant proposes to construct a temporary
detention facility, located in the vicinity of latitude 29.5986, and longitude -89.8247, which lies
immediately southwest from the existing facility, on a parcel owned by the applicant, bounded to
the northeast by LA Hwy. 39, to the southeast by forested property owned by Henry E.
Duplessis, to the southwest by River Road, and to the northwest by forested property owned by
P.F. Williams. The proposed concrete structure would cover an area of approximately 94,100
square feet. Although this would be a temporary facility, it would be constructed in accordance
with applicable codes and standards regarding construction of penal detention facilities.”

In general, after each new adminstration, back to Johnson, thre are some on the losing side who think that the new incumbent will establish concentration camps and cancel elections. Check it out, historically.

The web makes it easier than ever to find old ephemera (e.g., "The Report from Iron Mountain")

I remember laughing at the lefties and all those Bush conspiracies.

I don’t believe there was so much dangerous legislation and governmental action during his term though.

The conspiracy theorists could be right this time.

I suppose you can say there have only been 2 if only read the 20th century.

Before, there was Xerxes, Saul, Herod, and Julius Caesar.

For that matter, how about Castro in Cuba, Ortega in Nicaragua, Mugabe in Rhodesia, Khomeini in Iran... probably a few I missed.

...and Chavez now.

The legal authority for operating these facilities is available here from the US Army web site.
This has been out there for years ... no conspiracy just an open fact.

Despite the sinister sounding name, all that document is is guidelines for using current prisoners for labor project, such as when you see road crews cleaning up all the time. Nothing sinister in the actual contents. It basically outlines if prisoners can be used for these projects on military bases such as what they are used for on civilian projects.

Yes, you read it. They are proposing using inmates arrested by civilian authorities. They are interested in the better-behaved less hard-core types. Gathering up a crowd that demonstrates when they aren’t supposed to would qualify. (Provided they didn’t break anything or assault anyone, etc). People who are reluctant to leave their neighborhoods when instructed to would also be candidates. Maybe even being homeless would qualify - but there is considerable resistance to criminalizing homelessness. This is a mechanism to hold relatively large numbers of soft-core ‘arrestees’ or perhaps even ‘detainees’.
It certainly exists to be sure as do the campuses for holding these persons.

“He can pooh-pooh it all he wants, I’ve seen and worked on the plans.”

Aren’t you concerned they will make you the first inmate for spilling the beans?

Note: this topic is from April 6th. This "gov't has prepared concentration camps" crap has been around since the mid-1970s at least -- I heard a goofy black racist hiss about it in a communications class speech she had to give.
