While Barack Obama continues to protect and expand the rights of detained terrorist Islamist enemies of the USA, he has quickly begun the legalistic process of eliminating the rights of law-abiding US citizens. Note: This is but another phase of Obama turning the once US Republic into his own totalitarian state.
Obama officially began his policy with a report—written and implemented by the Department of Homeland Security—that labels and classifies all US citizens who oppose him, voted or plan to vote for 3rd party candidates, display bumper stickers recommending said 3rd party candidates or are pro-life (therefore anti-abortion) as “right-wing extremists.” This is only one of an ever-increasing number of Obama attacks against the First Amendment. Obama’s DHS Chief Napolitano has notified state and federal police forces that these individuals are to be monitored closely. In fact, the Obama Administration’s intrigues against US citizens are becoming so egregious that even the left-leaning media outlet Associated Press is reporting on his latest attempt to undermine any remaining liberties in America. The AP’s Mark Sherman writes in his article “Obama legal team wants defendants’ rights limited”: “The Obama administration is asking the Supreme Court to overrule long-standing law that stops police from initiating questions unless a defendant’s lawyer is present, another stark example of the White House seeking to limit rather than expand rights.” The deletion of all Miranda rights in select cases (one suspects the select cases will be the legal persecution of conservatives and libertarians) will be next.

Obama's administration wants courts to drop a lawsuit brought by Americans who were tortured when they were hostages in Iran. The lawsuit says Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was one of their interrogators.

I’d like to share your optimism about the left, but I refuse to underestimate the left and their will to destroy.

Canadians get it, why don’t most Americans.
Not all of them. He would have on his side what in other countries have been called "the criminal auxiliaries". These include most ethnic gangs, Islamists of all colors, the violent Greenies, and so forth. These groups are organized--their organization has not been suppressed to the extent that any group of more or less normal citizens has been. Anything smacking of a militia movement has been heavily leaned on.

That can be read in two ways.
At any rate, I was talking to a Canadian friend just the other day about their health care system.
The conclusion was that (many) Canadians have turned health-care decision making over to the government.
If there aren't enough hospital beds, guess who decides who gets them and who doesn't? They family has no say in the matter. The government decides (who can live and who can die).
(I know this is an extreme example, but the potential for abuse of the system exists.)

I agree completely.
However, I have this vision:
1) Massive immigration from our southern borders due to ‘civil strife’ and swine flue outbreak with federal government approval all in the name of compassion.
2) The left inciting even more ‘racist rhetoric’ in the inner cities.
3) The continuing media attacks of capitalism, Christianity and anyone who disagrees with the left.
All three groups listed end up fighting each other to the death and the ELITE left sits on the sidelines and watches the nation burn with a smile.
