They told me that they do not “directly” sponsor Letterman, as was stated.

That's their line of defense. They are CBS advertisers and placed with Letterman by CBS. They could demand to be dissociated from his show (if not CBS itself). The defense doesn't cut.

I know, but the response that I got does not mean they are not sensitive to this.

They will not show they are concerned with the impact of this, but they are. This is basically a good company, and I know they do not want to be associated with this.

Enough complaints will have an effect.

Then break the line of defense with a simple “ So, you are an INDIRECT sponsor of letterman. Direct or indirect, you are a sponsor of the show, are you not?”......do not allow them to use a circular argument on you...

This seems to be shifting from Lecherman, who is the soul who should be punished. Going after his advertisers makes sense in one regard, but we are making them respond; I want the weight on David Lecherman.

Filling his theatre with a silent crowd would be wonderful. No protests; but no laughs and no applause. The network will fill it in with recordings, but the live actions will have its effect on that invidious person.
