Folks, check your NJ driver license for the expiration date.
How often do you look at your license? Like me, probably not very often. The other day, I pulled out my license in preparation for an ID screening (for a potential job opportunity). When I looked at it, I noticed it had expired IN JANUARY. And I NEVER received a notice to renew.
Like you, I have the new high-tech license -- which can't be renewed by mail. You'd think they would send a notice to renew. So I'm going down to DMV first thing in the morning to straighten this out.
Sorry you have to deal with the BS
You need a nanny state to tell you when your DL expires?
ping
I’m not being funny but make sure you have somebody else drive you there.
Morons will first ask if you’ve moved and most end up telling them that their address hasn’t changed in decades.
What if I don’t have a NJ license?
LOL!
Then nevermind.......... :)
I nearly had that happen to me.
Now, every year, when I have to renew the auto tags, I intentionally look at the expiration date on my DL. It renews every 5 years, but I check it every year.
Good until 2013.
been there done that a few months ago......*smiles*..the cop told me don’t feel special..lots of folks getting told
I had this happen with registration, expired, no renewal notice.
Got pulled over, car impounded, towed to the pound, myself, wife and dog taking trip in the police cruiser to nearest police station, get taxi to get home around midnight, treated like criminal.
Like those that supposed to serve and protect, could not have given ticket and ask to bring the papers in couple days.
Rip off extortionists gummint, stand by for worse.
well said.
The last time I was at the airport in Phoenix, the lady checking ID’s noticed mine was coming up to expire and helpfully pointed it out to me, otherwise I probably would have forgotten also. It’s actually a nice service those folks can do for us with little extra effort, they should encourage all the airport screeners to do that I think.
You may need a birth certificate ..... you may find it easier to run for president.
Third day I call Trenton. After 3 hours the woman says, "Are you D. Savage at 123 Elm? I say I'm Doc Savage at 123 Elm. Oh she says, your name was too long for the computer so they shortened it!
That's when I contemplated suicide!
Did the cop say lots of people are getting told, or lots of people are getting old.....
08/31/11 for me.
told...he was pleasant about it...and this was during a recent ticket blitz, soooooo I felt it was me duty to renew...*whew!* I was over 6 months overdue.
I’m an “undocumented worker”.When I’m stopped by the police I just give a false name.So I say.....”license? We don’t need no stinking license”!
