Toward the end of his speech on health care Wednesday night, President Obama said that he had been thinking a lot about the phrase "the character of our country."
Too bad the president's speech had all the character of a free lunch. Obama argued for the moral imperative of providing quality health care for all Americans -- but it's not such a moral imperative that most people should have to pay for it.

He won office by telling the greedy taxtakers they would get free everything. Hey remember the lady who thought she would get a free car and gas and food and a house. Now what is he offering. Oh all you kids who do not need insurance...you gotta pay!
I know. I love how he says it’s actually going to lower the deficit. Maybe his health plan will also stop global warming, create peace in the Middle East and, even more shocking, have the Cleveland Browns win the superbowl this season.
They will pay for it in part by sales tax on stock and bond trades.
That will be great for the Oconomy.
