This story is disturbing in and of itself. Any unprovoked physical attack like the one displayed on this video is enough to make one’s blood boil and desire for justice rise.
But the really outrageous element is the way the authorities have handled the beating. According to stltoday.com, Belleville Police Capt. Don Sax said originally that the assault was racially motivated. Today, Sax has retracted his statement, saying that the act of two black students punching a white student in the face repeatedly while other black students chanted “Boom, boom, boom!” and “Beat his ass!” did not have a racial component.
Allow me to assume the role of the great Twilight Zone host Rod Serling for a moment. Picture if you will, the roles in this scene are reversed, and a bus full of white students cheers while two of their ethnic compatriots savagely batter a black student who simply wanted to sit down. Not only would it be instantly called a “hate crime,” but, by Monday evening, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would have made the rounds on every sympathetic news program decrying the pattern of institutionalized racism in the schools. They would have talked about the bravery of the black student who simply wanted an education, who, like Rosa Parks, simply wanted a seat on the bus to acquire that education. They would have discussed how difficult it is to be a black student in a predominantly white school district. They would have demanded that all students in the school go through racial sensitivity classes to prevent such an act from ever taking place again. And they would have urged the powers-that-be to prosecute the case as a hate crime so the perpetrators would have received the harshest punishment possible under the law.

And the Duke Lacrosse case shows us that for some people, no crime is necessary (other than filing a false police report) for there to be condemnations, protests, etc.
It's bad enough we have these hyenas/pack animals in the schools. But having those in authority bow down before them is too much.

It’s Belleville... I tried to find the video under Belleview, too, so there’s some confusion on the name. The stltoday.com article lists it as Belleville.
I live in a nice suburban area. My daughter attends a private school, but has the option of riding the public school bus. One day I intercepted an email between my daughter and her friend, where the two girls were discussing how they dreaded the bus ride every day, and how they needed to stick together to protect each other. I had no idea. Since then I’ve driven her myself.
I agree... I believe crime is crime. Is a crime any worse because there’s a racial motivation behind it? No. But if those are the rules in place, and if white students would be charged with a felony hate crime under those rules, then those rules should apply in this case as well. I am definitely in favor of dropping the entire notion of “hate” crimes, but it’s currently in place, and this is a glaring example of what the state has defined as such a crime.

I'd love to personally administer an object-lesson in why people should not behave thus; kind of like an "attitude adjustment."

We play football there this coming Friday.

That is the older version of the story. Look at the updated piece on stltoday.com or theconstitutionalalamo.com and you’ll see that the police have since recanted that belief and have said that this crime appears to have no racial motivation. Gotta keep up with the spin ;)
This city is run by the “Good Government Party” which is shorthand for one party rule. The discgraceful nature of this local government is too much for me to list here. And the sad thing is that I went to high school and even college with some of these guys and they are great people. But this city has been run by the democratic machine for longer than I’ve been alive. It produced Dick Durbin, Jerry Costello (unindicted co-conspirator), the “Judicial Hellhole of america”.
They are all white people who need blacks to continue to win elections, but do everything in their power to keep blacks out of their view. So when something like this happens, it threatens to take the blacks off the plantation. So, the good little democrats cover it up, let bad behavior go unmet, so there is no rocking of the boat - which might upset their nest egg of East St. Louis voters (East St Louis is in the same county and Belleville is the county seat, FYI).
BTW, Belleville has made appearances on 60 minutes TWICE as the most racist city in America. It’s a city 100% controlled by lawyers and judges - 50% of whom either have or have had cocaine addictions, hooker problems, or repeated DUIs. It’s a very sad state of affairs.
I’ve lived here my whole life and I’m extended the “insider” status since I have been friends and my father has been friends with many of these leaders, but if you’re not on the inside, you’re screwed. It’s a lot like what you imagine the old south would be like. Welcome to Belleville.
