Obama promised not to raise taxes. If he signed this bill into law, he would break his promise...
TOPICS: Government; Health/Medicine; Politics
KEYWORDS: healthcaretax; taxhike; taxincrease
*Individual Mandate Tax. If you dont sign up for health insurance, you will have to pay a tax. *Employer mandate Tax. $400 per employee if health coverage is not offered. Note: This is a huge incentive to drop coverage, as $400 is much less than the average plan cost of $11,000 for families or $5000 for singles. (Source: AHIP). *Excise Tax of High Cost Health Plans. New 35% excise tax on health insurance plans to the extent that they exceed $21000 in cost ($8000 single). *Report Employer Health Spending on W-2. This is clearly a setup for the easy individual taxation of employer-provided health insurance down the road. *Cap Flex-Spending Account (FSA) Contributions at $2000. Currently unlimited. *Eliminate tax deduction for employer-provided retirement RX drug coverage in coordination with Medicare Part D. *Medicine Cabinet Tax. Americans would no longer be able to purchase over-the-counter medicines with their FSA, HSA, or HRA. *Increase Non-Qualified HSA Distribution Penalty from 10% to 20%. This makes >HSAs less attractive, and paves the way for HSA pre-verification. *Corporate 1099-MISC Information Reporting. Currently, only non-corporations providing property or services for a business must be issued at 1099-MISC. This would expand the requirement to corporations doing business with other businesses. *Various industry tax grabs based on market share.

Obama also promised not to sign a health care bill that increased the deficit. If he doesn’t raise taxes, he’ll break that promise.
I don’t think Zero has a problem breaking promises. He’s had a lot of practice in a very short time.

Obama’s spoken word “by definition” is either a broken promise, or a lie.

The excise tax on high cost plans will soon apply to everyone since the premiums will go up for all; so it will be a self-compounding tax.
Also isn’t there something in it about the amount deductible in itemizing has to be over 10% instead of over 7.5% of AGI, as used in the past?

Do the liberals in Congress seriously believe that the majority of the American people will welcome these higher taxes and continue to vote for them? You would think that the town halls this summer would be an indication of the seething anger toward Obamacare. If Obamacare is shoved through with all these taxes there well could be a revolution.

In California the voters have voted them into office for decades and our taxes are the third highest in the nation.
Strange but true.

We’re seeing the beginning of one now. I hope it continues to be peaceful but the arrogance of this administration is so outrageous who knows what’s going to happen?

When he said that on his address to a joint session of Congress I thought he was considering conservatives’ ideas... but then I said, impossible, we are talking about Obama.
