New York State is famous for so many things; Niagara Falls, The Empire State Building, Erie Canal and Montauk Point just to name a few. But for many of us who live in the Empire State the most famous part of our home State is the oppressive tax burden.

A new study shows that from 2000 to 2008, New York experienced the nation's largest loss of residents to other states—a net domestic migration outflow of over 1.5 million, or 8 percent of its population at the start of the decade. Households moving out of New York State had average incomes 13 percent higher than those moving into New York during the most recent year for which such data are available. In 2006-07 alone, the migration flow out of New York drained $4.3 billion in taxpayer income from the state:

Rush was one of them and what did Governor Patterson say about that? 'If I'd known raising taxes would cause Limbaugh to leave, I would've done it earlier'. Good one.

Then we have the genius Barney Frank saying that the rich have so much money, if we tax them a little, they won't notice it missing. We see how that works in NY, how's it working in Taxachusetts

We are in the acceleration phase of the beginning of the end. The Welfare State is beyond its limits. It's like Wylie E. Coyote above the canyon in thin air, before he starts to fall. Cliff straight ahead boys, it's not going to be a soft landing.

The choices are Weimar America or a new birth of freedom through the dismantling of large chunks of the US Government. And we know how Weimar Germany ended.

Why? There will still be many many residents living there.

I’m okay with New York being a parasite magnet, just like I’m okay with San Fransicko being a sodomite magnet.
Whatever keeps them out of Pennsylavania...

This is heartbreaking. Anyone who has been in the Adirondack forest or across the Southern Tier knows how beautiful that state is.

New York State is emptying out; if you go across old Rt. 7, all of those towns are fading ghosts.
