An Arkansas cop tasered an unruly 10-year-old girl after her mother called police to report that the child was crying, screaming, and refusing to go to bed. The tased girl, Kiara Medlock, is about 65 pounds and 4' 6", according to her father. ...he found the girl "screaming, kicking, and resisting every time her mother tried to touch her." Bradshaw added that, "Her mother told me to tase her if I needed to." After Kiara continued to refuse her mother's instructions, the cop concluded that "there was not going to be a peaceful resolution of the issue."

Hey Officer Fife, ever hear of psychological intervention, CPS, or... childhood? Or did the dangerous criminal have it coming anyway?

to protect and to serve!

Now then, if she were a Muslim terrorist...

Ah, the poor office clearly has a 1" member and has injected too much juice while watching "Dirty Harry" movies.

Can't wait until justice comes around. Just can't wait.

Maybe the mother should just get a cattle prod and cut out the middle man and prod the little beast into bed.

While I in no way support tazing a kid...isn’t 10 a bit old to throw a fit because you don’t want to go to bed?

Gotta be something more here...

The mother told him to.

You forgot the sarcasm tag.

Unless you're saying we're actually supposed to be grateful she didn't tell him to use his baton on her, or shoot her dead.

Both the cop and the “mom” should be shot.

That is all. . .

Wow a moron cop on so many levels:

1. He took a 10 year old into custody for what?

2. He handcuffed a 10 year old who had committed no crime?

3. He was told by a parent to tase a 10 year old and did not have the sense to calm the parent down?

4. He tased a 10 year old?

5. He believed that threatening a 10 year old with jail was an effective method of calming this situation?

A mother is a mother due to nature and yes she made some errors in judgement. This moron cop is not fit to carry anything as dangerous as a garden hoe. Someone with such poor judgement should never be allowed to carry a weapon under the color of law.

I’m sure the kid is messed up in some way. Even a tantrum should not make a normal child oblivious to the obvious danger of kicking a cop in the b*lls. But likely due to regulations, the media can’t publish the kid’s medical history.

Sounds like the only person to blame here is the mother. What kind of mother calls the cops on a 10 year old daughter? My mom would’ve just beaten me till I was black and blue.

when Officer Dustin Bradshaw arrived at the residence last Thursday, he found the girl "screaming, kicking, and resisting every time her mother tried to touch her." Bradshaw added that, "Her mother told me to tase her if I needed to." After Kiara continued to refuse her mother's instructions, the cop concluded that "there was not going to be a peaceful resolution of the issue." Bradshaw warned the girl that she was "going to jail," but the child continued kicking and crying and resisted his attempt to handcuff her. During the tussle, Kiara "struck me with her legs and feet in the groin, reported Bradshaw, who countered with a brief "stun to her back" with his Taser. The child, not surprisingly, "immediately stopped resisting and was placed into handcuffs. She would not walk on her own and I had to carry her to my police car." Kiara was then transported to a youth shelter.

One way to fix this, is to stick the cost of the Police having to perform the parents job, to the parents. Here we have a child, who has been allowed to throw tantrums, and to kick and strike authority figures. This is not something that happens without some encouragement by ineffectual parenting.

Perhaps having her spend a couple days in a youth detention center is exactly what this little girl needs. But, I fear that the child is the victim of poor parenting skills - and the situation will not improve when she returns home.

Unless you're saying we're actually supposed to be grateful she didn't tell him to use his baton on her, or shoot her dead.

What I'm saying is, the police aren't you fuc*ing babysitter.

Police are trained to respond to violent, dangerous situations.

When you call the police, they come looking for a violent, dangerous situation.

Any time you call the police, there is a chance of them perceiving such a situation.

If you don't want your kid tasered, don't call the police to help you discipline him/her/it.

First of all what the hell is a cop doing answering a call of a mother who can’t control her kid?

Second, is it against the law not to mind your parents?

I hope the daddy sues the crap out of these gestapo cops on behalf of his daughter.

See what happens when “spanking” is classified as “physical abuse” and made a crime?

{Just taze your kid instead!!}

Sorry but the child was a victim of a moron cop who tased her. The mother might not be a great parent, BUT THE COP IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS BEHAVIOR.

He is a moron and CRIMIINAL for assaulting a 10 year old. I wonder if in Arkansas adult who has assaulted a child that age has committed a felony? I wonder what penalty the statute subjected him to.

If a cop can’t psychically control a 10 year old girl without having to use a taser then they shouldn’t be a cop.

Actually this doesn’t surprise me at all considering the shift towards “governmental authoritarianism”, “statism”, Tyranny we’ve been experiencing.

Exactly, I was just about to reply similarly to your comment above about criminalizing spanking. Still as I said in my next commnt, the criminal with the taser is still criminally responsible for his actions.

The police, can, should and will at the instruction of the parent take the child to a juvenile detention center. If a child attacks the policeman, as this child obviously did, is the policeman supposed to take the beating without response? Would you allow a 10 yr old child to attack you, without response?

Why is a 10 year old excused from behavior that is obviously well over the line?
