I was doing a You Tube search for "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and came across this magnificent video clip of the Church choir singing the tune during funeral services of the late, great Ronald W. Reagan that sent shivers down my spine and just had to share it with my fellow FReepers.

It’s been on my YT favorites list for a couple of years. Profoundly moving, and it made me fiercely proud to be a citizen of the United States.

The part that really got to me during that service was the performance of “The Mansions of the Lord”. And “Amazing Grace” on the pipes at the burial site.

Me, too. Always brings tears to my eyes.

You can't just listen to this performance in isolation -- it is part of a trilogy.

During the processional to the Capitol, the marching band was playing Battle Hymn as a dirge.

Then, during this service, they were singing Battle Hymn as a spiritual.

Finally, during the sunset ceremony in Simi Valley, they sang it as a triumpant march.
