Super Socialite Desiree Rogers, 46 is President of both Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas. She is also a mother (of one daughter Victoria), a political fundraiser, and highly active on the Chicago Social Scene.
Rogers was elected President of Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas in 2004 after working in a series of high profile positions in Peoples Energy including Chief Marketing Officer, Senior Vice President of Customer Service, and Vice President of Corporate Communications. She also served a six year stint as Director of the Illinois State Lottery.
Rogers is Vice-Chairman of the Lincoln Park Zoo and serves on the executive committee of The Museum of Science and Industry. Rogers is also active with The Chicago Children's Museum, The Young Presidents Organization, The Commercial Club of Chicago, the Chicago Network
She earned a MBA from Harvard University and a BA in political science from Wellesley College. She is consistently named one of the 50 most powerful Black business women by Black Enterprise. Celebrated for her great sense of style and business acumen, Rogers has also been featured in Vogue Magazine.

This is from almost two years ago but I find it quite illuminating. I don't know what the work of the office of President of Peoples Gas and North Shore Gas was like but it obviously left plenty of time for swanning about.

Gee, I had hoped it came across as FRiendly advice, not a lecture!
I would really like to hear from people who have actually known and worked with her over the years (of course that would go double for the great “O” himself).
Her no doubt regularly “corrected” wiki page makes her out to be Wonder Woman though that certainly does not square with her recent performance as White House Social Secretary.
Honestly, how hard would it have been to have mastered the basics of the job and at least made sure to delegate the work to the appropriate underlings (like the basic job of having someone out front checking invites) before swanning and schmoozing.
I have known people like that (exclusively purty and female) who could seemingly get away with barely doing their jobs. There was one manager in overall charge of a call center and mailroom for a local nonprofit. Glamorous and modelriffic, she always seemed to be away on conferences, seminars and business junkets and seemed to pop in every third day or so...
Of course in that particular instance, it left her equally young and only slightly less glamorous deputy to run the department just as she liked so perhaps everybody was happy with the arrangement.
