Will Progressives Kill Obamacare?

A major threat is developing to Barack Obama's dream of universal health care...and surprisingly, it comes from the left.

After acceding to all of independent Joe Lieberman's demands, including nixing the public option and the early Medicare buy-in, progressives are in an uproar. They have already lost a lot of faith in this President on other issues, most importantly the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. But they thought they had a true believer in the Oval Office.

If Obama is a true believer, he surely isn't fighting for his beliefs.

They won’t kill it. This is just posturing. They know the government option, abortion funding, etc. will all be re-inserted later.

“I don’t care who is responsible for killing 0bamacare, I just want it killed.”

It is more likely to have angels flying out of one’s arse than for this thing to die at this point.

What do you mean “...surprisingly, it’s coming from the left.”

All the ‘obstacles’, and ‘hindrances’ that this monumental travesty has faced has come from the left. The liberal caucus owns a filibuster-proof majority in the senate and a dominate majority in the house. Even if every republican or conservative was 100% united, they couldn’t stop this bill.

Liberalism is a religion ... and beliefs belong in church.

I don’t care who or what kills it as long as it gets killed.

I would not be so quick to dismiss the ability of the far left to derail this bill. Keep in mind their spoiled, entitled, “I want what I want now now NOW” mindset. They are very open about the fact that they feel they MADE Obama and that he OWES them. They may not be willing to give this monstrosity ten more years to kill the Insurance industry before getting their Single Payer. And they are certainly in full open disgust over Barry’s crooked deal with Big Pharma.

Howard Dean wants to do the “reconciliation” procedure (only 51 votes needed in the senate). Unfortunately for the leftists, even if it passed via “reconciliation,” it would expire in 5 years. Surely Dean knows that, but he can be, well, kind of emotional.

ZERO is not as smart as he looks. His own sheer stupidity is what’s going to “kill” us and/or “save” this country, the problem is, no one knows which.

People just dont get it they realize the propaganda spewed by the media day in and day out yet when a headline pops up that makes them feel hopeful they think that their reading from the American Thinker or National Review. This bill will pass Obama is left of everyone he is getting everything he wants and will make changes going forward. If they can shred the Constitution dont you think they can interpret things written in a 2000 page document that they wrote themselves with all the loopholes to get government healthcare?
Cmon wake up.

They know the government option, abortion funding,

The Senate killed the Amendment that would have kept abortion from being paid for-did they not?

He knows that if it goes to reconcilation committee and is voted on again in the House, without the anti-abortion amendment it will not pass.

That's one of the problems the Dems would have with reconciliation. There are several others.

So why is he pushing it? One pissibility is that he is nuts. Another is that he wants to endear himself to the left wing base, perhaps thinking that Obama is going to have a problem in 2012.
