I cried at the end of Old Yeller on the TV when I was about 9 years old.

I saw "Old Yeller" in the theater. It was so popular that an early Saturday afternoon screening was sold out. However, I found the film to be exciting, not sad.

The movie was based on a novel by author Fred Gipson, who also wrote Hound Dog Man and Savage Sam--dog books for young people that are fast-moving thrillers--and which the "politically correct" crowd would likely find offensive.
