Hotel Rwanda
Life is Beautiful
Schindler’s List
I don’t know if I cried during any of them, but they all invoked a strong reaction.
‘Life is Beautiful’ is one of my favorites. I made my three teen boys SIT THERE and watch it with me one afternoon.
It generated a great conversation concerning ‘mans inhumanity to man.’
I wanted them to see for themselves that The Human Spirit can rise above some very horrible circumstances and to warn them that this COULD happen anywhere at any time if we’re not vigilant.
(And yes, I know, genocide has happened since; I just want them to be aware and appalled by it, not complacent or numb to it.)
