David Brooks notes that in the last year, something dire has happened: The public has turned decisively against the "educated classes" and all of their works. At the same time, it has also moved against Barack Obama, who began his term with approval ratings that bumped up against 70, and have now sunk to the high to mid-40s, with "strongly disapprove" ratings that rival those of George W. Bush at his worst.
It has also moved strongly against his -- and the educated classes' -- ideas. It is more pro-life, more anti-climate change, more free market, less statist, more inclined to favor "harsh" measures against terrorism suspects, more in favor of "waterboarding" the terrorist caught in the brief-bombing effort, more opposed to the closing of Guantanamo Bay.
While the liberal Left controls the White House along with both houses of Congress, the country it governs has moved to the Right. These phenomena are all interrelated: The country is moving Right in reaction to Obama's theories of governance, and Obama and the educated class are one and the same.

It’s previous to be dancing on Obama, Nancy and Harry’s political graves. I remember when Bill Clinton was toast. At least twice.
Just give me plain old common sense.
The “educated classes”?
What a load of elitist hooey.
I consider the educated class as engineers, scientists, doctors, plumbers, welders, auto mechanics, businessmen, pilots, nurses, farmers, commercial fishermen and such.
Then there is an overlord class of symbol( words, sound and visual imagines ) that with un productive ( for society at large ) controls and handsomely profits with age old techniques, coupled with amoral and absent ethics. These people would be the politicians, academics, union leadership, Federal Reserve Officials, and so forth.
We are not seeing a revolt against the truly productive educated, but against the modern equivalent of privileged royalty.
The Republican elites, as usually, are totally clueless ( did someone mention Mitt? ) and are against harnessing this fundamental, healthy and American populism.
Common sense is what got us here.
The left, and others, are well aware, and spend big money to pitch everything as good old common sense.
You will be, as always, presented with common sense solutions to everyday problems.
Count on it.
The other thing I feel I can say with physics law type certainty is......not so much that everything is a lie, but that nothing is as it seems......, and always, always look for the fatal pill buried somewhere in a nice, warm banquet of food or goodies. You will find it every time. As the kids say, ‘It’s how they roll’.
Our enemies are smart, cunning, expert but cowards at heart and work by subterfuge and fatal traps.
Exactly what evidence has been provided to prove he is educated?
Oh, give the man a break. He speaks very well and intelligently as long as someone remembers to plug in the teleprompter.
I went to an Ivy League school, so I’m one of the “educated classes.” Unequivocally, the “education” I recieved was a stumbling block to understanding society, politics, and economics since it was largely the corporatist, regulatory, socialist, and anti-religious pap that is standard in all Universities. What do you get when you put corporatist and socialist together by the way? So I’m part of the populist revolt without having give an inch on my credentials. We are seeing the end game collapse of the Keynsian debt spending ethos combined with the mindless free marketers in international trade (wholly ignoring relative power in their economic equations).
“previous” = “premature”????
“previous” is perhaps an old-fashioned way of saying “premature.”
Until such time as Zer0 decides to open up his academic records to public scrutiny, I will continue to regard him as an ignorant, arrogant gasbag who can’t come up with an original thought to save his life.
You get a lower-case Mussolini who called his original fascist system “corporatism” and now has its #1 exponent occupying the White House.
Bingo!
I agree with your opinion of Zero; with or without academic records, he has demonstrated that he is an inept, socialist ideologue convinced of his own “brilliance”.
