A Second Shot Heard ‘Round the World (REDUX)
Vanity | 12/18/09 | Cyberrat

I originally posted the following essay one month ago. Much has changed since then. Given recent developments, I feel this post may be worth discussing again. I know this type of re-post is unusual, but this particular election, and this time in history are also unusual:

The American Revolutionary War began in Massachusetts with the Battles of Lexington and Concord, on April 19th, 1775. Following what Emerson referred to as the “Shot heard ‘round the world”, a small fledgling colony stood up against the tyranny of the greatest military force on earth… And won. Great men and women stood up in perilous times and prevailed against what appeared to be unconquerable odds. Some have referred to the present day as perilous times, and once again the people of Massachusetts have an opportunity to set into motion a political revolution.

On January 19th, a special election will be held to fill a Senate seat that has been controlled by the Kennedy family since 1953. Leaving the individual politics of the candidates aside, there is very much more at stake here than simply who will be the new Jr. Senator from Massachusetts. The political future of the nation could be at stake.

It is currently a foregone conclusion that the seat will remain Democrat. But what if it doesn’t? What if the unthinkable happens, and a Republican actually wins the Kennedy heirloom? That would not only make national news, it would make international news. The headline writes itself: “Massachusetts voters fire second shot heard ‘round the world!”

However, the true importance of this election lies in the effect it would have on voters in 2010. Talk about energizing the base. The momentum that a GOP victory in Massachusetts would cause would be unstoppable. People would actually believe that that the Republicans can win in 2010, and win big. The Obama Administration would be dead in its tracks, and liberals would be wandering around dazed and confused (I mean more so than they already do).

So if you live in Massachusetts, or if you know anybody who lives in Massachusetts, please, convince them to get out and vote for Scott Brown. I know there are some who disagree with him on certain issues, but the implications of a GOP victory in this race far outweigh issue politics.

Too many Massachusetts Republicans and conservatives have felt helpless for far too long, and this is the first opportunity in well over 50 years to change that. So get out and hold signs, email, blog, and do whatever you can to bring about a GOP victory. January 19th could be the first battle in a second American Revolution, and once again, victory could rest in the hands of a few Massachusetts patriots. We won before, and we can do it again.

"The Founders revolted for less."

Exactly!! The Intolerable Acts were beanbag compared to Obamacare! We must now stand up and fight these abuses against the Constitution. This election is the first (not the only), but the first redress against this tyranny. Scott Brown WILL be the 41st vote, and in the words of Bawney Fwank: "Kill healthcare". At the risk of sounding dramatic: History is happening now!

These people are an serf like shadow of the stalwarts of 1776.

"These people are an serf like shadow of the stalwarts of 1776.

Well, I am one of those people, and I take exception to that remark.

There are REAL patriots here in Massachusetts, and we have to fight harder and stand stronger because we are surrounded by moonbats. It's one thing to be a conservative in Texas, but try being a conservative in Massachusetts. That takes some stones, trust me. Being from Pennsylvania, I would think you could appreciate that.

Just know that there are people, patriots, fighting the good fight here in an attempt to put a stop to Obamacare, and set the stage for the Republican Revolution of 2010.

If we pull this off, a simple thank you will suffice.

Remember the words of Ben Franklin: "We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately."

Nah, the real “shot heard round the world” will be when we revolt for real. Maybe these elections will retore the republic, but most likely they’ll merely put off the inevitable for a few more years. When we revolt for real, all of those countries which are ripe for revolt and return to their cultural roots - such as the UK, will follow in our footsteps.

I know PA is now teetering between the hoards of ignorant gimmie serfs and the dwindling numbers of self-sufficient, freedom loving patriots. It is awful. My family moved out of MA in the 60's, I loved the geographic place as a kid, having grown up there - and ignorant of the changing society. My father referred to the state as Taxachusetts and moved family to PA in 1964. I did wonder at the mile long entry/exit ramps between expressways, later realizing twas simply a mark of the through corruption rampant in the state at that time.

Once the proud cradle of liberty. Now, it is a long lost corrupt cesspool of a state - its useless citizens at every opportunity, electing obviously putrid, deformed, self-serving, demonic, corrupt, zombie creatures to stink up this countries government. Lots of similar company tho, NY, CA, MD, WA, CT, etc.

You and I, my friend, share similar memories. Your father was right! Those exit ramps have now been replaced by mile marker signs every 0.2 miles apart. Only now those ridiculous two tenths of a mile signs are brought to us courtesy of the Federal government and Obama's unconstitutional stimulus spending.

My argument is that this corruption must STOP! The election on Tuesday may very well be the first step towards ending this corruption. I only ask for your support in that effort.

If Scott Brown wins, WE win! I've blogged, given money, and will be working the phones from Brown's campaign headquarters in Hyannis the night before the election. I am TRULY doing EVERYTHING I can to prevent Martha Coakley from being elected to the Senate.

I'm walking the walk, as a true Patriot. All I ask for is your support!

Of funny road signs: In Pittsburgh, along Forbes avenue about every 100 yards: This is a State Maintained Road. (Lots of rough pavement).

And in Dublin, on a short, downward sloping alley leading to the Liffy was an iconic sign of a truck falling into the water. Chilling!

Thank you for that! Sorry I'm a little late in acknowledging. Some how it slipped by me earlier, but again, thanks!

Yup, that pretty well sums it up :)

Near where I live there was a long stretch of road being repaved (again) but with huge green signs at each end of the project reading "Project Funded by The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act".

Somebody spray painted "PROPAGANDA" in big black letters across one of them.
