The Paraable of the Sower is very revealing and convicting about the reasons for the failure of our lives in Christ to produce fruit. One of the very profound lessons in this parable is we determine what kind of ground we are.

I hear you. I am still tilling the soil though. All it takes is one sprout. Better than nothing. I bet we have lots of sprouts we are not aware of though. Maybe more than a few full grown fruit unbeknown to ourselves. God only knows what good we bring or what we bring to this earth or to heaven. So I keep relying too on that, too. Grace. Faith.
Basically: If you live long enough and are lucky enough you will turn into the Prodigal son. Try to sit back at the end of the table and learn humility.

Humility is the only attribute that Jesus ascribes to Himself and encourages us to learn from him (that I can remember, at least); in that same passage about taking His Yoke which is easy and a light burden.
LOL good one.....I am so far excelling in outliving the bastards....:O) but is the misery of old age worth it...:O(
