US Marine: "The Rules of Engagement Prevent Me From Doing My Job"
Diana West ^ | February 02, 2010 | Diana West

Someday, civilian and military leaders responsible for these rules of engagement, this policy of sacrificing American troops to make the barbarians of Afghanistan "like us" should come before at the very least a Congressional hearing, but at this point an out-for-blood people's tribunal seems more appropriate.

What they are doing to our military, our treasury, our power and our prestige is an unconscionable national betrayal.

The following news story describes the toll these rules, this policy is taking on our bravest young men -- amoebas in a petri dish to the mad, see-no-Islam social engineers masquerading as American statesmen and generals

if brave patriots before us have been willing to see an America worth dying for, then we have to see an America worth saving.

Big difference between Saul Alinsky and Sun Tzu.
Obama’s fault that our people are getting killed for political correctness.

This is exactly why Glenn Beck was right when he advised his nephew not to reenlist.

It’s like I always say, war has become way to civilized. People are so quick to flame me for badmouthing smart bombs but this is why I hate them, because they are the ultimate symbol of our weakness, of our unwillingness to kill. This unwillingness to kill belies the fear in our hearts and the lack of conviction in our cause. We all know how war is supposed to be waged and this ain’t it. What are we afraid of? What is there to even be afraid of?

“accusing the Taliban of manipulating the rules of engagement by using women and children as shields and shooting from hidden positions before dropping their weapons and standing out in the open.

“They know we can’t shoot them if they don’t carry guns or without positive identification. They are fighting us at another level now,” MacLean said.”

Sounds like Chicago politics has made it to the battlefield. Someone won an election standing behind the poor (by choice or not), and coming out of hiding without his agenda, oh, I mean weapon.

The military is a microcosm of America. What is happening in the military is happening to America-and will continue to do so until Men who aren't even remotely kidding rise and say ENOUGH! The PC in the military, however outrageous (to say nothing of ‘deadly’), is endured by the men.

A very telling quote in this article. The Taliban have been fighting through the winter. Traditionally, during the winter, things get quiet. They know they have us in their crosshairs, no reason to let up.

A young Marine I know deployed in Sept. he has said it was crazy from the minute he arrived, he said they have not stopped since.

I read these stories, knowing quite a few young men from my community are over there and it enrages me that they cannot do what they are trained to do, THEY ARE MARINES NOT SOCIAL WORKERS!!!!!

I don’t really care that the Russians were not able to defeat the Afghani’s we are not the Russians, we are the United States!!! If the politician would allow us to take the gloves off and fight we can WIN! If they can’t fight then bring them home!!!

Unfortunately for my son he is on the ground now.

I can't figure whether to blame McChrystal or Obama.

The general built his career on his troops playing human shields in his “nice” war.

Look, my son is an infantry Marine in a fire team and he is no joke. He and his Marines are highly trained and able to handle any rules of engagement their superiors hand down. Sure, the rules will make their job harder but they know how to improvise, adapt and overcome.

That young Marine is telling it like it is. My son is there, probably not where your young Marine is, but the fighting has not let up. This is his third tour of Afghanistan so he has a reference point.

The Marines will find a way to overcome their leadership they always do.

Nothing like a Marine Mom, God bless you and we are praying for all of them daily.

I’m guessing he’s somewhere in Helmand.

We LOVE our military.

I wasn’t directing my comment to your son.

It looks to me as if Obama and the LEFT are trying to make our military a joke. It’s awful how political correctness is making a mess of things.

Give our best to your son! We CARE about them.

With the Indonesian-Kenyan Messiah in charge, my Son is not joining. Period.

Fort Hood, a dozen Dead, and the disrepectful POS gives a “Shout out” to his buddies.

300 Americans almost blown out of the sky, not a big deal, the system is working.

I get it. Our lives are meaningless to the Obamas. We are here to pay reparations through taxation, and then die. I get it. No hard feelings, but Im not cooperating.

From the article

Outside a tent housing the Marines' unit responsible for firing mortars stands an improvised cross bearing the inscription: "Here lies the 81st, death by stand down."

My son returns this week to Afghanistan after being severely wounded. He did all he could to get sent back, because he cannot stand the thought of his buddies being there, facing this enemy, and him being home safe...despite a crippling major wound. This is tough on us, because we feel he has done his duty and then some, but he is a professional soldier and feels his duty is only done when victory is achieved. We pray for his safety.

Chesty Puller wouldn’t have put up with this BS. Too many generals worried about their careers over their Marines in my opinion.

Just like Beirut. Here’s a great idea, let’s put our Marines in the middle of a war. But we’re not going to let them load their guns or shoot at people who are trying to kill them because it might make us look bad to the rest of the world.
