My Great Uncle was a Marine Raider in WWII. Was wounded badly at Bougainville.

The last time I saw him before he died, he picked me up in his Honda Accord to take me out to dinner. For him, it didn't matter. For his brother who was in the Navy at the same time, he'd just as soon shoot you if you showed up at his house driving a Japanese car.

My late Father who fought in the Pacific Theater in WWII first bought a VW in 1960, then one of the first Totyotas back in 1969. Didn't seem to bother him.
