A pair of British church leaders are under fire for preaching in sermons that "modern women's" lack of obedience is to blame for the country's high divorce rate, The Daily Mail reported. Vicar Angus MacLeay urged the congregation at St. Nicholas Church in Sevenoaks, Kent, to "submit" to their husbands. A few days later, Curate Mark Oden preached, "We know marriage is not working." "We only need to look at figures -- one in four children have divorced parents. Wives, submit to your own husbands," Oden said. MacLeay is a leading member of the evangelical group Reform, which opposes the ordination of female clergy in the Church of England, the paper reported. The sermons sparked outrage among many churchgoers, especially women. One woman said she was "disgusted." "How can they talk that way in the 21st century?" she told the Daily Mail.

you should hear what the muslims say ...
What did the ladies in the burkahs have to say? Anything?
“Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything” -Eph. 5:22-24
Makes you wonder if this guy has even read the Bible.
Ephesians 5:22-32 (King James Version)
22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.
23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Bingo! You get it.
Now get in the kitchen and make me a pie!
Are you sure YOU get it?
Yes
What part of the article do you NOT get? Obviously you don’t or you wouldn’t have posted the way you did.
The country’s high divorce rate is caused by a slackening of divorce laws. Look at the recent crumbling of marriage in Ireland, where divorce was finally introduced in the 90s. Divorce rates have steadily increased, despite the legal hurdle of having to live apart for four years before a divorce is granted.
If divorce was not as easy to obtain couples would be more encouraged to work out their problems and respect the vows of marriage.
That sounds like a "plan" to me!
Curate outrages congregation by telling women to 'be silent and submit to your husbands'
Fox is trying to be sensational and inflametory.
St. Paul has a two pronged lesson, namely, that wives should let husbands be men and wear the pants in the family...
AND
...husbands should love their wives
...husbands should love their wives
...husbands should love their wives
...husbands should love their wives
...husbands should love their wives
Why does the obedience part receive all the press? BECAUSE MEN LOVE THE FIRST PART OF PAUL'S INSTRUCTION, AND ALSO WANT TO SIT ON THE COUCH, DRINK BEER, AND BURP.
If a woman can't trust a man with her obedience, and he isn't loving and cherishing her, SHE SHOULD NOT MARRY HIM IN THE FIRST PLACE!
There, I said it.
Are you reading my mind?
I read this letter of Paul during our oldest son’s wedding ceremony, the day after Christmas. Then my b-i-l, who married them, preached an EXCELLENT sermon on just what ‘submissive’ means, and it DOESN’T mean women are supposed to be silent, subservient, doormats. Our new d-i-l, and her parents, were quite impressed with an explanation of the reading they’d never heard before. ;o)
And you said it very well!!
