You want a meaningless day off work, so you can check out the sales? Then Presidents Day is for you. But I prefer Lincoln’s and Washington’s birthdays. I’m old enough to remember when holidays had a deeper significance.

I'll go along with Washington but not Lincoln.
He was one of the first to piss on The Constitution.
I put out my flag on Feb 22, and don’t put it out on President’s Day or Martin Luther King Day.
When I was little, we had a cutout of Washington we would put in the window on Washington’s birthday.

Another reason to home school. If you don’t want to or can’t, it is not a lot of work to teach your kids about the great presidents. If they are old enough have them read a biography. If they are younger read one to them. Explain to them why these men and their acts need to be remembered.
You are your child’s best teacher. An hour a day with them will reap a lifetime of rewards.
Right on! & while we're at it, remove him from Mt. Rushmore, too...replace his face w/ that of James Madison, the "Father of the Constitution".
Yeah man! Right on! Lincoln sucks! It would have been a lot better had the union dissolved and then we could all read about that odd little footnote in history known as “the United States” and about its failed constitution. At least we’d be states’ rights purists then and have a pure constitution (in our history books)! Hell, maybe we’d even still have slaves in the south and could still be sitting on our fat, lazy southern asses on the porch! Where’s my bong?
You got a problem w/ states’ rights? What parts of the 9th & 10th Amendments don’t you understand? It sounds like you believe that the servant (the fedgov) is greater than the master (the states & the People).
I don’t think the Union would have broken up completely had the South won in 1865. The northern states would have remained the same while the Confederacy would have gone its own way. The Industrual Revolution was about to begin around that time or a lil later, & that would probably have made slavery a moot point. But the fact of the matter is that the southern states had just as much of a right to secede & form their own government in 1861 that the colonies had in 1776. Those principles are eternal, & are written in the Declaration of Independence.
Is that so Einstein? Would you care to explain why that is so? Lincoln jailed and deported people who disagreed with him without due process. How is that Constitutional?

According to the U.S. Code, this is “Washington’s Birthday.” I’m not sure if any individual states have designated it as “Presidents’ Day.” Commercial advertisers have called it that.
Lincoln’s Birthday is not a U.S. Holiday — it is a National Observance — no paid day off for federal employees — people are requested to fly their flags.
