Speaking as a NY transplant, Texas is a dream. The Metroplex has everything you can imagine at half the prices of other places. Keep about $50K aside for a little house in the country (1 to 2 hours outside of the Metroplex) where you can hunt, fish, and have well water.

Texans have a can do, will do, get out of my business attitude. The majority of folks that I talk to are sick to death of Bambi and company.

Another amazing state is Oklahoma. Extremely conservative. Men are MEN and women are ladies. A bunch of Okies that I spoke to last year said that if Texas left the Union, Oklahoma would come right with her; out loud, in the middle of the restaurant, and nearly 20 people agreed.

Wow that is AWESOME! If I lost my excellent job, I’d be compelled to job-hunt in Texas because I want to be around the “don’t mess” people for once! I have family here, though, so it would be hard either way (staying in California or going & missing everyone).
