Resisting ObamaCare, Gandhi Style
Forbes ^ | 3-24-10 | Shikha Dalmia,

President Barack Obama came into office promising hope and change. But he might get more change than he hoped for. By foisting ObamaCare on a deeply unwilling country he might have set the stage for the largest civil disobedience movement since the civil rights era, which, if it plays its cards right, could undo his legislation and his legacy.

Unrest is already underway. Response to the Census is at record lows.

Ghandi used Passive Resistance against the British. Passive Resistance doesn’t work well against Communists. They kill you.

On an earlier thread:

“By some estimates, Uncle Sam will need to hire an additional 17,000 IRS agents or so just to enforce the coverage mandate. But even if a few million Americans simultaneously refuse to abide by it, they could easily overwhelm the system. Self-rule or swaraj, Gandhi said, requires a collective understanding of the immense capacity of citizens to ‘regulate and control’ the coercive apparatus of the state through mass nonviolent resistance” -

And I received a reminder card in the mail — fill out and return the census. So that was one letter telling me the census was coming, an envelope with the census form in it and now postcards to remind us to fill out and send in the census. Can you say “government waste?”

For opponents of ObamaCare that time is Dec. 31, 2013. That's when the individual mandate will go into effect. If ObamaCare hasn't been repealed by Congress or nullified in court by then, its opponents would be justified in urging Americans to refuse to buy coverage or pay fines and dare authorities to come after them.

We will not obey unconstitutional laws passed through fraud and illegal parliamentary maneuverings.

I would definitely call this bill tyrannical. People need to be patient and quit jumping the gun on this one with violence and name calling. If indeed that even happened. I know it's not easy, but, we can do this if we keep cool heads and pick and choose our battles wisely and prayerfully. Never leave God out of any decision. Listening to God can be the difference between success or failure.

I also like this: But even if a few million Americans simultaneously refuse to abide by it, they could easily overwhelm the system.

Yup - got the “reminder” card 2 weeks after I returned the census. Idiots.

Even in my deep blue county, participation is only 18% (73% participation in the 2000 Census).

Shows you how much people have grown to fear and distrust the government. People didn’t distrust and fear Clinton the way they do BO.

I know it’s difficult for people to always get to protests and take time off of work - but I think it’s getting to the point where we need to act and do as much as possible.

We need more peaceful protests on DC and even at local government offices as well as peaceful sit-ins. We need to take a page out of the protests from the past minus the violence. We should prob. just take a page out of Ghandi’s playbook.

As Gandhi said “We must become the change we wish to see” God, Country & Constitution.

I think so too. We need to smart about this and patient and most of all prayerful about this. If we go in like gang buster will wear out before they do. We need to pick and choose our battles. And if we do any of this without God we are doomed to failure.
