The Shock of Barack
Robin of Berkeley via American Thinker ^ | 3/31/10 | rae4palin

I've been feeling funky since Black Sunday, the day of the health care debacle. As a therapist, I'm usually able to identity my feelings. But this one had left me stumped.

I went through the usual laundry list of emotions: Am I depressed? (A little, but that's not it.) Worried, scared? (Yes, but who isn't?) Angry? (Very, but that's still not what's bugging me.)

It took a conversation with a conservative friend, Nancy, for me to pinpoint the feeling. Nancy told me that a Jewish co-worker, a staunch Obama supporter, was feeling "shell-shocked" by Obama's vilifying Israel.

Bingo. That's what it is: stunned, shell-shocked, traumatized.

But it's not PTSD -- post-traumatic stress disorder -- because then Obama would be ancient history. It's trauma happening right here, right now, at lightning speed.

Trauma means witnessing something that humans are not designed to see, a horror that is more than the self can absorb. The brutality of war, a gruesome crime scene, the sudden death of a loved one. Or the evil that unfolds through unchecked power yielded by megalomaniacs.

A psychological examination of Obama's apparent lack of humanity.

“Nancy told me that a Jewish co-worker, a staunch Obama supporter, was feeling “shell-shocked” by Obama’s vilifying Israel.”

I can only hope the American Jew is starting to finally wake up. About 20% of the Jews in this country get it. The Jews in Israel fully understand what is going on. This would doom Barry.

He may, in fact, derive satisfaction by the act of revenge...pretty much the motivation of all radical leftists - resentment, envy and revenge to all those they feel inferior to and disadvantaged by - tear them down under the pretense of helping the little guy - the real tragedy of this president....

Very good analysis. Sometimes I feel bad for the man who is Barack Obama. There is something very tragic about him. There is also an unreality to him. Also part of me gets the overwhelming feeling that we have as President a man who is not at all what he seems and has something very dark that he is hiding.

Thanks for posting..and what an insightful analysis of the darkness that is BO’s mind and the unhealed wounds that make him who he is today. I got an email a while back with pictures of his mother posing naked under the Christmas tree(no photoshop then). So who took them? Hmm?

Obama is perfectly capable of saying whatever it takes, and meaning absolutely none of it.

I would worry about all the leftists coming out of university who also want to become president. Obama is the first far left radical president and there may be others, as new generations are graduating from these warrens of the left, that are willing to take socialism even further. Obama is the first major success story and God knows how many will try to follow in his footsteps. His life may be a mess but others will emulate him. I don’t think the left is going away anymore than gum disease will go away. We can just hope to reduce the effects.

"If we as a culture don't find our way back to those young and old who are lost in space, adrift and unanchored, they will embrace false idols. For as long as Obama is the only game in town, the only way people can feel alive and hopeful, they'll ignore every red flag and defend Obama until their last dying breath. They must believe in him. The alternative is just too unbearable."

Our prisons are filled with those who were physically and psychologically abused. It tends to make a person cold-blooded.

Amoral Bill Clinton had a lousy childhood too, although I don't think as bad as Obama's.

Reagan had a distant and alcoholic father, and his son Michael and his closest friends have commented upon that "distance" he had. There was a certain part of him that no one could reach. But he had a very good mother, and that must have saved him.

Not that bad upbringing is an excuse for taking your life out on others, in this case seemingly the whole country. You don't "get back" at people who did nothing wrong to you. Plenty of poorly-raised people rise above that.
