(Listen live or get the podcast later.) Maybe interesting to see what the UMWA has to say - out in the open - about Massey. I know Liddy is fairly pro-union and said yeaterday he stood with the UMWA.

Um, he might have been referencing the huge disaster - Union sentiment in regard the UMWA is a bit different and more heartfelt in West Virginia than in other places.

I really hate unions and believe they are irrelevant with the exception of miners. I’ve seen their work and where they work. It’s bloody dangerous.

Sounds like a tough situation all around.

The media latches on to ominous sounding “Safety violations” while ignoring the fact that literally no mine has ever been able to stay entirely within the regulations imposed by government.

I don’t begrudge the miners a limited union and think the company and union would be better off without government interference.

My brother is an underground miner & he took me down on a tour of his mine. They earn every penny. god protect them.

Perhaps the UAW should take a tour of real difficult work conditions like those miners face everyday? Maybe they’ll be more thankful and less demanding?
