Thanks for the info. I'm an amateur photographer but know little about paintings and painters (although I do enjoy watching the Bob Ross reruns. These paintings definitely pique my interest. I love his interpretation of lighting.

As a huge fan of 19th Century American art, I'd invite you to explore more of Church's work...some of his paintings have a virtually photographic quality...

I went there when I was a kid. It’s an amazing place. I passed near it many times afterward but was in too big a hurry to stop.
