"An FBI surveillance tape obtained by NPR provides a glimpse into Stone's view of the vast conspiracy burbling in the shadows. In the tape, he says he could see local cops joining forces with foreign soldiers to take over the U.S.
"Do I think all the cops out here would they would fight right alongside some Chinese trooper, heck yeah," he says on one of the tapes. "It's all about power. It's about the authority. They see us as the little people."
The tape was made in February while the group was driving to Kentucky to attend a militia rally. Stone had prepared what he hoped would be a rousing speech for the gathering and he read it to the others in the car.
"We need to quit playing this game with these elitist terrorists and get serious because this war will come whether we are ready or not," Stone told the other members of the Hutaree as they drove back to Michigan. "A war of this magnitude will not be easy. But like the rattlesnake on the flag, we have rattled and warned the new world order. Now it is time to strike and take our nation back."
William Swor, David Stone's defense attorney, confirms his client is speaking on that tape. But he says there is nothing in what Stone said that is the least bit illegal.
"The things ... in that statement were no more radical, no more offensive or dangerous than anything any of the right-wing wackos on television and radio said the week before these folks were arrested," Swor said."

What has Hutaree actually done besides express right-wing views while poor and eccentric?
I'm betting the FBI plant drove them in his FBI SUV, and encouraged him to write and then practice the speech for the tape recorder.
Conservatives don’t need the paranoia. That’s Leftist stuff.
Being paranoid is not illegal. Acting while paranoid, on the other hand, might lead you to illegal things :)
Is stupidity a requirement for lawyers?
Why would the FBI give a surveillance tape to NPR (Commie lovers) before a trial? Unless it was for propaganda purposes.
This is not about supressing a threat, but about damaging the reputation of the right. Obozo propaganda team in action. None other than NPR (or as they sometimes refer to themselves "Public Radio International")
FBI informants have not played well in the courts in the past.
The FBI is a fine and dedicated group who only want to get the bad guys as do all honest LEOs.They have been misdirected in the past from higher pay grades who were seeking political goals and not the truth.
I fear that these hard worker and honest agents will once again be thrown into the fire as result of an administration, White House, whose goals not the nations goals.
With out hearing the entire recording I cant say for sure but if this is the worst I would have to agree.
With out a specific threat against a specific target I do not see how they can charge let a lone convict these men.

“Andrew Arena, FBI Special Agent in Charge, said, “This is an example of radical and extremist fringe groups which can be found throughout our society. The FBI takes such extremist groups seriously, especially those who would target innocent citizens and the law enforcement officers who protect the citizens of the United States. The FBI would like to thank our federal, state, and local law enforcement partners who are member of the Joint Terrorism Task Force, for their assistance in this case.”

Is it illegal or unlawful to be a whack job?
It was fatal for David Koresh.
Chinese? I won’t worry about the Chinese unless Dumbass keeps destroying our nuclear deterrent.
True.
I was a little curious as to how NPR got that recording, too.
