It’s okay to buy American just don’t buy American when it is union made or union backed.
The last decent GM product I ever owned was a 1986 Buick Century I had throughout high school and college. Great car, but the other one (a Pontiac) as well as the used Saturn I currently own, as well as a Ford Taurus, have convinced me that buying American cars for the sake of buying American cars is a waste of money and time. The only decent car since the Buick has been a Scion (Toyota). Unfortunately, that one got totaled in a wreck.
Our family has owned 7 caveliers. My ‘04 has 225K and runs great. Now lets not cut off our nose to spite our face. I live in Michigan. There are lots of fine men and women who get up and go to work every day to build GM products. They are forced into a union. They have no choice. So lets not put them out of business for the sins of the union bosses or the government. We still need jobs in Michigan. And they build a fine product.
I have Fords and I just picked up a Chevy in October. The union issue is not a deal breaker for me. I will always buy a car made by an American company.
I wouldn’t buy a new GM on a bet.
Same here, I’ll probably get a Malibu.
I looked at the Camaro but I’ll just keep my V-8 Chevy truck, add headers, juice it up. I figure if I own stock, wanted or not, I might as well buy from them.
Harry Reid’s New Car!
Sen. Reid goes to a local GM dealer in Washington, D.C. with the intention of buying a brand new vehicle. Harry looks around and finds one he likes.
After going back and forth with the salesman, Harry settles on a price of $45,000.
Harry and the salesman go back to the office to complete the paperwork. Harry works out a 4-year payment plan, and signs on the bottom line
The salesman shakes Harry’s hand and says, “Thanks Senator Reid, the car will be ready for pickup in 4 years.”
Harry says, “What are you talking about? Where are the keys to my new car?”
The salesman replies, “No, you don’t understand Senator. You make payments for 4 years... THEN we give you the car. You know, just like your health plan”.
Harry, with a choking voice, says to the salesman, “But that’s not fair”.
And the salesman says, without any doubt or embarrassment: NO SHIT.....
Agreed. The styling is looking good, not sure about quality, but all that aside, since the union and Obama are involved, never again will I buy a GM product.
I think that I’ll stick with my Pre-obama Chevys.
My old truck had racked up 337K miles in 19 years of abuse and when I sold it, I got every dime of the highest Kelly Blue Book value, with no negotiation at all. The guy (good old Texas Cowboy) that bought it paid cash on the barrel, to boot.
I do have an unfair advantage in that for most of my life I was a mechanic. Not much escapes my attention when it comes to mechanical issues.
I think that my current truck and SUV will outlast the obama regime. The real question is, will I?
You nailed it!
Move to the front of the class!
That is because Dear Leader kicked the honest, hard working owners of GM and Chrysler out and moved his union goons in.
I come from a long line of GM employees (Janesville, Wisconsin) and understand your point of view.
However, rather than be forced into union slavery, I chose to move to TEXAS, which remains a Right to Work state.
The UAW and their Community Organizer can kiss my a$$.
I own a ‘93 Silverado. My next purchase won’t give any money to Government Motors.
Also, at least in one year, Ford Motors gave more to Planned Parenthood than any other company.
I’ve always purchased American cars, still have a ‘92 GM that we purchased new, but I think when we get our next car, I’ll be looking at Nisson.
