Exactly. He also wouldn't have a fraction of the audience he now has now. It is precisely because no one else will touch this kind of material that he needs to get it to the widest possible audience in one shot.
That requires his showboating and histrionics because that is the nature of viewing audiences. As he points out himself; if he presented the information that he does in a totally stone-cold sober manner it would be like sitting through a physics lecture.
As for doing this kind of expose in 1913; he would have disappeared years before he got this far.
